Aviva is the UK’s largest insurance company. Our 18+ million customers rely on us to help them handle life’s unexpected events and prepare for the future.

Who we are

If insurance makes you think of people in pressed shirts and shiny shoes, that’s not how it is.

Making life better for our customers, often in moments that really matter to them, is both exciting and rewarding. And, much like what we do, who we are at Aviva is far from boring. We’re all individuals who are proud to be part of a diverse, forward-thinking company. And the development opportunities around here? They’re equally as open and unlimited.

We have opportunities in areas as varied as Business Management, Underwriting, and Data. Whichever pathway you choose, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to make an impact, right from day one.

Find what makes you shine on an Aviva graduate pathway.

Equity, Diversity & Inclusion

Creating a diverse, inclusive organisation is a fundamental part of living up to our purpose of being with customers today, for a better tomorrow. Which is why we actively encourage people of all ages, races, religions, belief systems, sexual orientations, and gender identities to join us. It’s also why we embrace diversity of thought and welcome people with autism, dyslexia, ADHD, and others on the neurodiversity spectrum.

We are signatories of both the Women in Finance Charter and the 30% club, and have set ourselves the target of increasing the number of women in leadership roles to 40% by 2024.

To date we have increased female leadership to 37.3% (as of 31 December 2022) and ranked in the Sunday Times top 50 Employers for women.

We are signatories of the Race at Work Charter and have introduced a number of initiatives to support its five focus areas – from enabling career progression to capturing ethnicity data. We are also founding partners of Change the Race Ratio, setting targets for our ethnically diverse senior leadership.

Wellbeing

We offer everything from healthy eating initiatives, health checks, and exercise classes through to products, policies, and support designed to help people stay healthy.

We can also flex locations, hours, and working patterns to suit our customers, business, and you. Most of our people are doing what we call Smart Working – spending around 60% of their time in our offices and 40% at home. When you join us, your leader will take time to discuss this with you and agree what works best for you, your team, and the organisation.

Personal Development

You’ll begin with the One Aviva induction, which you’ll experience alongside other new graduates about to embark on various pathways. After that, how far and how fast you progress will be up (or down) to you.

Pathways have built-in support and time for you to dedicate to studying for a professional qualification. And on your journey, you’ll benefit from:

  • the knowledge and experience of mentors
  • on-the-job training
  • chances to network with peers and senior Aviva people
  • regular development-focused events
  • learning opportunities via the Aviva University

Sustainability

Sustainability is fundamental to our strategy and culture and our work is focussed on three core areas:

  • Acting on climate change

We’re taking bold steps to tackle the climate crisis. Our plan is become a Net Zero company by 2040 and achieve a 60% reduction in carbon intensity of assets by 2030.

  • Building stronger communities

We’re working with our customers, communities, and partners to build back a stronger economy including a £10bn UK infrastructure and real estate investment by 2023.

  • Embedding sustainability throughout our business

From how we make decisions to how we act and communicate, our Sustainability Ambition will help guide our actions in every part of our business.

Application Process

  1. Apply online

You’ll be asked to attach a copy of your CV and answer a short questionnaire about your motivations. We want to hear what you enjoy doing, what you’re good at, and how you share our values.

  1. Online tests

If you’re shortlisted, we ask everyone to complete a Situational Strengths Test, which gives us an indication of how you like to work, your thought process and relevant strengths. You’ll get the chance to do a practice test before attempting the real thing. Depending on the pathway you apply for, there may be other tests to complete too.

  1. Video interview

The next stage involves recording a video interview. You’ll be presented with a series of strengths-based questions and asked to tell us more about your motivations for choosing Aviva. Our online system will guide you through it and, again, you’ll get to practice first.

  1. Assessment day

The last stage is an assessment day where you’ll get to show us what you can do. This will give you a better insight into what it’s like to work at Aviva and a chance to meet some of the people who work here. You’ll take part in group exercises along with an interview and individual tasks.

Impress us and you’ll be offered the role to start in September 2024.
