"My work hours can vary depending on tasks and projects I'm working on, as well as meetings involving colleagues based overseas. Overall, my hours are as expected for my role."Technology, Placement Student, Surrey
"The work culture is very flexible. If I need to take a morning off and make up for it later, that's usually fine and I can work from home if I need to. While the hours can be long on some days, it's 9.00 am to 5.00 pm for the vast majority."Placement Student, London and Surrey
"Equity internship hours are long, but my impression is that this is the case across many firms. I think they are slightly better once you are doing the real job, at least for the buy side. There is flexibility in when you come in and leave (within reason). Some people come in earlier and leave on the early side, others arrive at 9.00 am and leave later."Intern, London
"I work roughly 55 hours a week. This is by no means the norm for commercial interns. I had a lot of work to do but I was more than happy to work these hours as I knew the work I was doing was valuable."Intern, Kingswood
"I work 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. I've never had to come in early or leave late."Intern, London
"Fidelity is quite flexible in terms of working hours and it all depends on the work. Sometimes I work for longer hours and sometimes I leave the office even before 5.00 pm."Placement Student, Cannon Street, London.
"I work 9.00 am to 5.00 pm with an hour's lunch break. There's no pressure to stay longer just for the sake of it and, if the work has been done, you can also leave earlier. All in all, I'm surprised at how normal my working day is considering the horror stories you sometimes hear about working hours in the finance industry."Intern, Tonbridge
"I have standard working hours but with a flexible approach."Technology, Placement Student, Kingswood
"My hours are very reasonable for finance."Intern, London/Kingswood
"I work from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm (4.00 pm on a Friday) with an hour for lunch. The hours are very good and, if you have something you need to leave early for, the company is fairly relaxed with this so long as you are getting your work done. Lots of people get in around 7.00 am and leave at 3.30 pm."Intern, Kingswood, Surrey/ London
"I work eight hours a day and have an hour off for lunch if I want to. I am expected to work hard but the company values the results more than the hours you put in."Intern, Kent.
