At HSBC, careers are just different. With 200,000 employees and 40 million clients across the globe, we’ll give you greater opportunities, clearer purpose and more meaningful impact.
Who We Are
HSBC is one of the world’s largest banking and financial services organisations. From trading to sales, cyber to data or consulting, we can help you shape a path like no-one else. And enjoy all the benefits that come with being part of something bigger.
Here, your skills are the priority, not what you’ve studied. And through structured development programmes, engaging mentor and buddy schemes and more, you’ll grow an in-demand, agile skillset that can take your long-term career to places you may have never dreamed of.
Culture and values
We’re 50 nationalities speaking 144 languages. Which is more than exciting, it’s essential to who we are. And it means whoever you are, this is an organisation you’ll thrive in. You’ll feel understood and supported among like-minded colleagues, but also challenged and developed by new perspectives.
Benefits
Your package will depend on your role and location, but will consist of market-competitive salary, annual leave, and benefits to support your life, family and wellbeing. We also offer discretionary variable pay to recognise the performance and behaviours of our people.
Inclusion at HSBC
Inclusivity isn’t an obligation to us. We’re citizens of the world, it’s who we are. We value our differences like nowhere else. But we can always do more. So, we’re continuously improving on:
- Fair and inclusive recruiting
- Progression of under-represented talent
- Building an inclusive culture
- Supporting an inclusive society.
Wellbeing
We know life is rarely a straight line. Our four-pillar approach ensures that you’re supported throughout your life and your career. Depending on your location, you could benefit from:
- Physical health: comprehensive medical benefits and access to regular health assessments, app-driven tools and gyms
- Mental health: free, confidential 24/7 access to counselling, manager mental health training, and mindfulness apps to help you manage stress
- Financial health: the opportunity to invest in HSBC shares as well as education tools to help you make financial choices
- Social health: flexible ways of working, where possible, and Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) that connect on the subjects that matter to you.
Personal development
We care about your skills, not what you studied. In fact, over 60% of our graduates come from non-finance backgrounds. That’s because we can (and will) teach you the technical skills you need, while helping you harness and grow the behavioural skills you can already bring.
Our structured development programmes are designed to do this, as you work on purposeful projects, with high-profile clients, delivering global impact from day one.
From global hackathons to active involvement in employee resource groups, supported by mentors, buddies, managers and more, you’ll have opportunities to build things here that go way beyond typical early talent programmes.
Sustainability
Sustainability’s big here. Our business impacts people all over the world. That means meeting our responsibilities to society. We do this by:
- Using our international expertise to connect our customers to opportunities around the world
- Monitoring and regularly publishing updates on our environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance
- Powering new solutions to the climate crisis and supporting the transition to a low-carbon future.
Recruitment process
We hire people, not degrees. Our application process focuses on your behavioural, not your technical skills, steering you towards paths you’re passionate about and successful on.
The process varies depending on the programme you apply to, but it’s likely to involve:
- online application form (taking 10-15 minutes)
- online assessment (taking 90 minutes)
- assessment centre (taking three hours).
For Insight Programmes or work placements, you may not need to attend an assessment centre, but will complete an online interview instead.
Through every step, we’re there for you to be at your best.
- Our Candidate Zone gives you resources to prepare, insights into HSBC and opportunities to find out about your working style and preferences. You can also explore practice test questions to learn more about how you will be assessed.
- And when you’re ready to submit your application, our Application Guide tells you exactly what to expect and gives you details of support and adjustments you can request.
