"I think the trainee salary is competitive but the new qualifier salary is not so much. The bonus scheme doesn't really seem worth the extra effort."
Second year trainee, Birmingham
"I think the firm pays well but I do think the London salary is disproportionately high in comparison to the regions. The bonuses also tend to focus around things like matter-related hours."
Second year trainee, Birmingham
"Training contract pay is fine and it is among the highest in Manchester I think. The pay is very good if one does 'normal hours' but obviously deteriorates as the hours pile up. This is not unusual though and to be expected from a large commercial firm."
First year trainee, Manchester
"I could not be happier with my salary and benefits in comparison to other trainees in Belfast."
First year trainee, Belfast

"Pay is generally okay, being commensurate with the culture and work/life balance offered."
Second year trainee, Edinburgh
"Our pay is broadly on a par with other Manchester firms of the same size."
Second year trainee, Manchester
"The trainee salary was bumped up a good amount in my second year after an annual review and the new qualifier salary I can expect to receive is on par with firms of a similar size. Overall I'm happy but it's a shame that trainees aren't generally entitled to bonuses and no longer get a qualification bonus if they stay on with the firm."
Second year trainee, Leeds
"I've had a couple of unexpected and decent pay rises, both within my training contract and in relation to my new qualifier salary. I think the salary very much reflects the quality of the work we do, as well as the fact that we can expect to have a life outside of work. I have zero complaints about the base salary."
Second year trainee, London
"The salary is better than most trainee salaries in Belfast. However, it is a third of the size of a London trainee salary. The firm pays your institute fees (which is a massive bonus), will continue to pay you while you're at the institute and will not require you to come into the office during term time."
First year trainee, Belfast
"The pay is good, but should be increased a little in line with our competition."
First year trainee, London

"The pay is good for the Scottish market but we get paid less than our peers in England."
Second year trainee, Glasgow
"I am satisfied with our pay. I do think that we were previously paid quite a bit less than trainees at other firms of the same calibre but the pay has recently increased."
First year trainee, Birmingham
"The salary is standard for a trainee solicitor in a similar international law firm."
First year trainee, London
"The pay is fine but lower than at some other firms. I'm not aware of any bonuses."
First year trainee, London
"Our pay is average for a City law firm, which is good for this level of experience."
Second year trainee, London
"Although we are at the higher end of trainee salaries, there is room for improvement. This is especially true for trainees who are seconded to regional locations."
First year trainee, Glasgow
"It's great for Northern Ireland but less than in the regional offices."
Second year trainee, Belfast

"Because PM is London-based, my salary was higher than the average Scottish firm would offer."
