Kido are proud to be able to offer our Early Years Initial Teacher Training (EYITT) Programme to graduates!

We’re a nursery group where innovation and imagination unite to create modern Early Years settings, with international nurseries in India, USA and the UK. We are international, operating in India, USA and the UK. In the UK all our nurseries are Ofsted rated Good and Outstanding and are based in London and Windsor.

We’re still growing with 1-2 new nurseries opening each year! At Kido, we blend the best practices from the Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and Waldorf Steiner approaches and have a unique curriculum for children aged 3 months to 5 years.

We believe that a combination of free and structured play, an engaging and interactive learning environment, and an abundance of love, care and attention provide the most solid foundation for children in their early years.

By joining, and signing up for, the fully-funded teacher training you’ll become fully qualified within 12 months. Intakes are in January and September each year.

From there, the possibilities are endless. You may choose to specialise in certain areas within your nursery such as SEND, complete a further qualification such as Montessori teacher, or work ‘up the ladder’ towards management.

What we offer

The Early Years Teacher Training Programme offers a starting salary of £23,796 and is a full-time, 40 hours per week role.

What the EYITT programme involves

Welcome to the heart of Kido, where passion, ambition, and people are at the core of everything we do!

While completing your teacher training you’ll be working in one of our nurseries, being part of creating a safe and inspiring learning environment where every child thrives. You’ll be a team player ensuring that you and the team meet the unique needs of each child, collaborating with the team to plan, organise and execute engaging activities that align with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). An ability to effectively communicate with parents, children and colleagues will set you apart and aid us in delivering the best experience possible.

With a hands-on approach and with great attention to detail, you’ll deliver exceptional experiences throughout the children's learning journeys within our nursery. We believe in celebrating every child's unique journey, and you'll play a key role in assessing and recording their progress and achievements. By aligning to our systems of observation, you'll ensure no milestone goes unnoticed, and every achievement is celebrated.

What the study entails

You’ll complete a mix of online training as well as 8 in person training days. Our Qualifications lead will be on hand to support you with your study, as will the nursery management team. Each week you’ll have around 4 hours during work time to complete the academic element of your training. This is an intense course of study to get your Early Years Teacher status within 12 months, with lots of research and reflective accounts of your learning.

Your 40 hours work and study will be worked over 4 long days or 5 days, depending on the nursery needs and your preferences. You’ll gain experience across all age groups from babies up to reception, learning phonics and maths programmes. You’ll also study to understand the EYFS, and various child development theories and practices. As part of your EYITT course, through our training partner BPN, you will complete a work placement in a school setting for a total of 5 weeks. This will include 4 weeks with a reception class and 1 week with KS1 and KS2, giving you a well-rounded experience into how early years education impacts the children when they go to big school!

What we’re looking for from you

• To be eligible you must hold an undergraduate degree in any discipline and to have passed GCSE level maths, english and science
• A degree in an Education and Teaching related topic, or humanities subject is beneficial
• You’ll show a passion for and some experience of working with children (personal or professional)
• Your values will align with our 3 core values - Listen, Learn and Lead
• You must hold the right to work in the UK
• If shortlisted you’ll be asked to provide details of all unspent convictions prior to interview, in line with our Safer Recruitment process. We will also process an Enhanced DBS Criminal Record check for anyone who joins the team

If you’re successful, we’ll do some pre-employment checks as part of our Safer Recruitment process before you can start. This is a requirement from Ofsted and the NSPCC to help with safeguarding children. As part of applying for the course with our training partner there will be an additional interview with a short presentation.
