An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Council’s Legal Services team for a graduate solicitor apprentice to start in July 2024.

The Role

This role will provide experience and training in the Property and Contract team. Under supervision you will undertake a range of legal tasks developing your skills and experience in advising, drafting, negotiating, client care etc.

You will need to be ambitious and hardworking, with a "can do” attitude. You will have the ability to manage assigned tasks in an assertive, efficient, practical and timely way. You should possess a professional and confident manner.

To be eligible to apply for this role you will:

  • have either a qualifying law degree at 2:1 or above, obtained within the last 3 years, OR
  • be about to graduate with a qualifying law degree at 2:1 or above, OR
  • have a non-law degree at 2:1 or above and a Graduate Diploma in Law, obtained within the last 3 years (i.e., completed no earlier than 2021).

You must also have:

  • GCSE English and Maths grades A-C/4 or above; and
  • 3 A Level grades B/5 or above.

Please note you will not be eligible for this course if you have already completed the LPC (Legal Practice Course) qualification, and you should also satisfy yourself that you comply with the University and Apprenticeship other eligibility criteria.

If successful, you will undertake the Level 7 Solicitor Apprenticeship Standard on a day release basis which will take approximately 27 months to complete (commencing August 2024).
