Join us on a 12-month industrial placement to work with and learn from some of the best people in the energy industry!
Have you ever wondered how we keep the electricity flowing and the lights on for all electricity consumers in Great Britain? If so, join us during your penultimate year at university as an Industrial Placement Power System Engineer within the National Energy System Operator. You will gain first-hand experience from a core team who are working to operate a carbon free electricity system by 2035.
Our Industrial placement
As a Business Analyst undergraduate, you’ll be providing the analysis to drive and shape the requirements for our transformational projects to deliver the desired business outcomes and help deliver the transition to NESO and a zero carbon electricity network
Key tasks and areas of work can include but are not limited to:
- The purpose of this role is to drive and shape demand from conception into delivery through appropriate governance and support. The role will drive strategic thinking using business analysis and problem solving skills for a specific directorate or sub-directorate. The scope of the role is dependent on demand requirements
- This role pulls together an end-to-end view on a topic working closely with senior delivery managers (SDM) and provides strategic capacity to drive the directorate and/or technical priorities, specifically future looking digital charters, roadmaps and impact assessments.
- Understand, develop and maintain up to date NESO and directorate knowledge and translate NESO’s priorities, outcomes and vision in relation to specific scope into digital charters and roadmaps.
- Plans, manages and investigates business situation analysis where there is significant ambiguity and complexity.
- Create the right business cases around opportunities and/or problems. Manage the demand from the directorate with a digital first mindset, leveraging technology to meet business goals and objectives.
- Work with the DD&T Functional Excellence team to ensure that the demand management part of the role links into overall functional planning.
- Work closely with the wider group of BAs or Product Owners to ensure that demand is incorporated into relevant backlogs as applicable.
This role is based at Wokingham, hybrid working options available and dependent upon business requirements.
What you'll need to apply
You’re on track to achieve a minimum 2.2 degree
You must be in your penultimate year of University studying a Data related or IT related or STEM related degree.
Ideally, you’ll have a valid full UK Driving Licence.
