Lab Scientist 1
Onsite - Great Abingdon, Cambridge
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Lab Scientist to join our Integrated Solutions Team, based at our lab facilities in Great Abingdon, Cambridge.

The Role:
As an Automation and Ready Workflows Lab Specialist you will act as both technical and general specialist in laboratory workflows with the focus on performing automated method testing and qualification.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, hands on and dedicated individual to contribute to establishing vital automated methods for Illumina workflows through lab experiments.
Your responsibilities will include (but would not be limited to):
- Automation methods testing and qualification. This will include but not be limited to, preparing samples, running automated library preparation, sequencing and data QC.
- Responsible for multiple items of laboratory equipment involved in workflows including advising on usage and maintenance to other lab users. Participates in equipment management processes for calibration, servicing and associated record keeping. Owns usage and maintenance of automation.
- Equipment specialist – SME for multiple items of laboratory equipment including advising on usage and maintenance to other lab users. Participates in equipment management processes for calibration, servicing and associated record keeping.
- Safety specialist - responsible for overseeing waste stream management, chemical labeling, and participating in risk assessments in multiple spaces
- Quality specialist - participates in maintenance of ISO13485 lab processes ensuring compliance with processes, documentation and trainings.
- Stock specialist- responsible for overseeing operations of the systems as deployed in ISC Lab, monitoring changes, leading set-up and modification improvements, and liaising with users for optimization
- Operational Excellence specialist- participates in overseeing 6S and operational improvements in ISC Lab.
Preferred Requirements:
- Relevant experience in a laboratory (automation expertise beneficial)
- Detail-oriented and conscientious
- A team-oriented approach within the work environment
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook

Preferred Experience/Education:
- BSc/MSc highly preferred with some equivalent experience OR
- Some molecular biology laboratory experience required with no degree
