Our 12-month Product & Propositions Industrial Placement paves the way to an unstoppable career in banking.

Choose more as you join a highly committed, purpose-driven organisation working together to deliver for our customers.

We forge a different path at Nationwide: one that’s fairer, more rewarding, and for the good of society.

Our Product & Propositions Industrial Placement spans two of our business functions: Mortgages and Financial Wellbeing and Retail Products, gaining exposure to product pricing, performance and planning, customer research and process improvement.

No matter what function you're in, you'll make an impact on our customers' lives.

Your experience on the programme will be what you make of it, so come with an open mind and a thirst for knowledge. We'll ensure you reach your potential.

On our 12-month Industrial Placement, you'll focus on developing Product knowledge, monitoring product performance and have exposure to product design, customer research, and process improvement across multiple projects.

You’ll rotate around the Mortgage Product team, spending time getting to understand areas like:

  • Mortgage pricing: learning how we price our products to meet member needs whilst delivering the right commercial return.
  • Product development: helping us launch new products to meet member needs.
  • Data and insight: building skills in data analytics to help us understand our customers better.
  • Customer management: ensuring our products meet customer needs, deliver fair outcomes and operate in line with regulations.

All placements will help develop your analytical skills and commercial judgement, as well as giving you the opportunity to take insight and proposal papers to senior leaders and committees.

You’ll work in our Pricing & Performance Team, who are responsible for setting and monitoring trading objectives for our banking products, understanding what’s happening across the industry and how Nationwide benchmarks against other lenders. You’ll use internal and external information to build understanding and insight of product and market performance and effectively communicate this to key stakeholders, as well as using your commercial, numerical, and analytical skills to produce insight and develop pricing proposals to meet trading objectives. You’ll also support with analysis to inform decisions that play a vital role in managing performance and enabling us to drive good customer outcomes.

In 2024, we launched our new purpose-driven development project to enable you to develop career-enhancing skills and challenge your existing skills in a different context to your day job, whilst building more rewarding relationships with your cohort and colleagues across the organisation.

The project will provide a blend of research, design and delivery activities, complemented by a series of face-to-face development workshops.

High-performing and purpose-driven people deserve rewarding career experiences and highly competitive benefits to match. We're a workplace where you're rewarded, recognised, supported and celebrated. It's all here at Nationwide.

We have high expectations and we reward you for the work you have delivered and how you have displayed customer-first behaviours. You will be part of our variable pay scheme that differentiates and rewards exemplary performance.

This is part of our DNA. We shine the light on colleagues who live and breathe our customer-first behaviours. We celebrate with you every step of the way. Whether you are part of exciting recognition events, receive special leave for key anniversaries or vouchers to buy gifts, we recognise colleagues who demonstrate the very best.

We are proud of the ways colleagues can work together and continue to put our customers at the heart of all we do. We value and prioritise coming together. If you are office-based, you have flexibility to work up to three days per week from home. If you are branch-based, you will be on-site. When colleagues come together, you are met with an engaging and connective environment, where we collaborate and learn from each other. We also have a range of other flexible ways of working and support options too, all designed to get the very best from colleagues.
