The role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our educational research team as a researcher or senior researcher, supporting a range of educational research and evaluation projects.
We have a core team of 68 staff primarily based in our Manchester head office, and in addition draw upon a team of approximately 400 associates.
AlphaPlus’ researcher will be familiar with the key concepts of social research design, particularly as applied to an educational context.
Working within the research team, and as a line report to the deputy director of research, the post holder will make a significant contribution to high quality research and evaluation outputs as part of AlphaPlus’s educational research and consultancy services. They will work across the different stages of a project from project initiation and start-up, the design of research instruments, data collection and analysis, write up and project closedown.
About you
Candidates must possess a master’s degree with a significant research element, ideally Psychology or Education Studies
Experience of analysing qualitative data in NVivo is desirable, as is an ability to interpret basic quantitative outputs, as many of our projects include mixed methods. Ability to understand/speak Welsh would be helpful but is not essential for this role; we are equally happy to hear from applicants who otherwise meet the criteria.
The post is permanent, full-time working 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday and is Manchester office-based. Job share/other flexible working arrangements may be considered for the right candidate(s). Any such preferences should be indicated at the early application stage and can be discussed further at interview. The company offers hybrid working (two days per week minimum in the office, with three days working at home). The exact allocation of office-based days is decided by the appointee's manager, although flexibility remains our policy and approach. A relocation package is available if appropriate.
The role will also involve national and occasional international travel, potentially including working in customer offices.
