The Opportunity
On this 6-week Summer Internship you'll work alongside skilled professionals and from day one you will be working on real life meaningful projects - adding add value to clients, while exploring challenges with curiosity and creativity.
You'll learn from others and begin creating your professional network ready for when you graduate. There are regular learning sessions with our leadership team, opportunities for site visits to local projects and all kinds of social events that will support your learning and development.
Our aim is to welcome as many students back into our other programmes be that another internship or potential graduate position. This placement is the stepping-stone to your future.
We have opportunities for Graduate Engineers to join our well-established team of experts, where you will be supported and mentored and be encouraged to work towards a professional qualification, whilst maintaining control of your own career. We encourage our graduates to demonstrate drive and motivation, to seek to improve existing ways of working, to show a willingness to learn about our business, and to have a desire to effectively meet our clients' goals through the delivery of our projects.
Our Energy Engineers apply their specialist skills to energy infrastructure projects across the globe. We offer our clients a broad spectrum of expertise and consulting services in, but not limited to the following:
- Hydrogen solutions;
- Carbon capture use and storage;
- Renewable energy including:
- Wind (fixed and floating);
- Wave;
- Tidal.
- Low carbon solutions as part of the transition pathway.
Our clients include governments, energy developers, energy generators, energy infrastructure and investment companies.
Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:
- Design calculations
- Use of technical analysis and design software packages
- Identification and testing of novel solutions to problems
- Preparation and production of drawings and sketches
- Liaison with clients, suppliers, and contractors
- Interaction with other engineering disciplines to develop solutions to problems
- Resolution of site queries
- Technical report writing
- Organisation of meetings and CPD training events
- Representing Arup in links with local schools and universities
You will work in project teams to deliver effective and professional services to our clients. Due to the multidisciplinary nature of our design teams, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced designers, preparing designs in co-ordination with your team as well as external clients for projects across a wide range of developments. Is this role right for you?
We are looking for candidates who are working towards a bachelor's and / or master's degree Minimum of a Master's degree in Chemical, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Naval Architecture, Offshore Engineering, Marine Engineering, Environmental (or similar) Engineering, at 2.1 or above; and Studying an IChemE, ICE or IStructE or IMechE (or similar) accredited course.
