The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is an international organisation with its head office in Basel, Switzerland. Our mission is to support central banks' pursuit of monetary and financial stability through international cooperation, and to act as a bank for central banks.

The BIS’s objectives are to promote cooperation between central banks, to provide a centre for economic and monetary research, and to act as a trustee or agent with regard to international financial arrangements. It employs approximately 650 members of staff from more than 60 countries. 

The BIS Innovation Hub (BISIH) is a think-tank which develops public goods in the technology space to support central banks and improve the functioning of the financial system. 

We have 7 centres around the world, including in London, and a global network of central bank experts on innovation. We work closely with central banks and innovative companies around the world to test the application of cutting-edge technologies to the most pressing challenges in the financial system.
