Expertise

Our top researchers and senior staff also teach on Masters programmes, which means that students receive lectures by academic staff who are pushing back the frontiers of research.

During recent years, our academics have undertaken policy work and consultancy linked to their research for organisations including the European Commission, the World Bank, the IMF, the UK Treasury, the European Central Bank, Deutsche Bundesbank, the Spanish Savings Bank Association and many other national and international organisations.

Programmes

Our excellent record in postgraduate teaching is reflected in the innovative nature of our degree programmes, and the performance of our students at Masters and PhD levels. We established the first MA in Banking and Finance offered by any UK university in 1973, and more recently we were the first to offer MBAs in Banking & Finance and Islamic Banking & Finance.

Postgraduate students can choose between several types of higher degree programmes and subjects. These include taught MSc, MA and MBA degrees in the fields of Accounting, Banking, Finance, Islamic Banking & Finance, Business, Management and Marketing, as well as joint programmes with Consumer Psychology or Law. We also runs a highly successful programme for students who wish to study for the research degrees of MPhil or PhD.

Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) pathway

At Bangor Business School, you will have the opportunity to follow the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) specialist pathway as part of your Masters programme and to acquire the skills to complete the CFA Level 1 examination.

The Chartered Financial Analyst qualification is highly sought after both by industry professionals and ambitious students preparing for their careers. It is recognised globally as a mark of distinction for professionals in the investment industry.

Holders of the CFA charter typically go on to have careers in areas such as risk management, financial analysis and advice, portfolio management and consultancy.Partnering with Fitch Learning, who train over 3,000 CFA candidates each year, the unique blend of classroom, online and mobile learning offers students the ideal preparation for the CFA Level 1 exam alongside their Masters studies.

Chartered Banker Institute

Bangor Business School is currently one of only three Chartered Banker Institute ‘centres of excellence’ in the UK. We offer two courses which are fully accredited by the CBI:

MA Banking & Finance (Chartered Banker)

MSc Banking & Finance (Chartered Banker)

Graduates of these programmes with graduate with a dual award: an MA/MSc and the Chartered Banker Diploma, which is the gold standard for professional bankers and is the highest award available in the banking world.
