About nucleargraduates
nucleargraduates is a unique two year graduate development programme where extraordinary individuals get their career in the UK nuclear industry off to a flying start.
A ground-breaking programme created by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority in 2007 and sponsored by Sellafield Ltd, Rolls-Royce, Magnox Ltd and the Office for Nuclear Regulation amongst others, designed to develop graduates with an awareness of the technical, political and commercial challenges facing the industry.
Through the nucleargraduates programme, you will gain a broad experience of the industry from working at three different organisations, at home and abroad, as part of a diverse, inter-disciplinary group of graduates who collaborate with and support one another, before re-joining your sponsoring organisation to continue your career and professional development.
With the help of your dedicated mentor you will build you own bespoke, training plan and as you progress through the programme and beyond to chartership through remarkable, specially designed experiences. You will have your own training budget, to spend on your specific development needs. No two nucleargraduates journeys are the same.
On top of this, you will spend 10% of your time with us on Footprints, our corporate social responsibility programme. You will have the opportunity to become a STEM ambassador, passing on your knowledge and enthusiasm to the next generation of engineers and scientists. You will establish a start-up company, developing your commercial awareness and growing your appreciation of the challenges faced by a small business. You will work with local community projects, meeting inspirational individuals.
For graduates with strong problem solving ability, flexibility and communication skills this is a fantastic opportunity to accelerate your career inside one of the most talked about and least understood, stable and secure industries in the world.

How nucleargraduates helped me to find my niche in the nuclear industry
What initially caught my eye about the nucleargraduates scheme was the sheer variety of things you could do. The scheme was a chance for me to go into a new industry with entirely fresh eyes – over two years, I was able to carry out four placements at different employers across the nuclear industry.
