"It is light, modern and clean. The hot desks are nice as you get to speak to, and sit with, different colleagues daily. The dress code is fairly relaxed and we dress down on Fridays."
First year trainee, Southampton
"Birmingham has a really nice open-plan office. There are hundreds of staff but they are all as welcoming as each other. We have dress-down Fridays every week for £1 with all proceeds going to the charity committee."
First year trainee, Birmingham
"Some offices are great, such as Manchester. Birmingham has lost lots of break-out areas due to the increase in employees. I think there should be a new office that's fitted out for Shoosmiths. The facilities are good and the IT has improved massively. The dress code is business but it's laid back so you don't have to wear a suit and tie every day. There are also dress-down Fridays, which are great."
Second year trainee, Birmingham
"The Manchester office is one of the newest and is the nicest (and most interesting) office I've ever seen. As well as the standard desks, there are a variety of breakout rooms themed for their purpose. These include the library (which is themed as an old-fashioned library and dedicated for silent work), the XYZone (which is themed for collaborative work) and pods and smaller rooms for taking calls and working on matters that need concentration. The dress code is normal office wear, with a dress-down Friday every week."
First year trainee, Manchester
"We're centrally located in the town and near to the station so we have access to lots of shops, restaurants and cafés. The agile office creates an open working environment. Our dress code is smart but no ties or blazer jackets are required unless we're meeting a client."
First year trainee, Reading
"The firm offers a large number of different locations. The newer offices have fantastic facilities and are focused around agile working. The firm is also refurbishing its older offices or moving to new locations to bring all of them in line with the newer ones. The dress code is smart casual and all offices have dress-down Fridays."
First year trainee, Milton Keynes

"The dress code is business casual so nobody wears suits or ties (unless attending client meetings) and we can wear sandals in the summer. Each office also has dress-down Fridays to support the office charity. The firm is rolling out agile working across the offices so that we are paper-lite and can hot desk. Many offices have been recently refurbished as well."
First year trainee, Solent
"The office is fine but it's a little outdated now. We dress down for charity every Friday."
Second year trainee, Milton Keynes
"Our offices are all slowly being modernised. The Manchester office in particular is a bit of a jewel in the crown and has received numerous awards for its innovative work spaces. The ability to work elsewhere when you need to (due to our agile working approach) is particularly helpful. Our dress code is pretty relaxed and the only time I wear a tie is if I am meeting a client."
First year trainee, Nottingham
"Our offices are fantastic. They are very modern, clean and generally very nice places to work. We have lots of break-out rooms and even a library."
First year trainee, Manchester
"The Reading office space is a large open-plan office in the city centre next to the station. The Solent office is a bit more difficult to get to as it's on a business park, not in the city centre. However, the Solent office has recently moved to a brand new building (on the same business park) where everyone will be sat on one floor, open-plan, as agile workers, and with great views. The dress code is relaxed and ties are not often worn."
First year trainee, Whiteley, Southampton
"The offices vary according to location. The Northampton office has been newly refurbished and has a nice open feel."
First year trainee, Northampton

2016

"The office is open plan and right in the centre of Edinburgh. It has grown in terms of staff and it is getting a little busier. Dress code is smart but every Friday is a dress down day as long as you are not meeting clients."
First year trainee, Edinburgh
"Some offices would get 10 out of 10, others 7. There is a refurbishment process occurring at present across some offices, including Reading."
First year trainee, Nottingham
"The Milton Keynes office is well-located, spacious and relatively modern. IT facilities are passable, but prone to faults. Birmingham office (site of assessment centres and other firm-wide events) is very modern, very well-equipped and in an excellent location in the centre of Birmingham. Dress code is smart business wear, with dress down Friday for charity."
First year trainee, Milton Keynes
"Dress code is generally smart (although a full suit and tie isn't really the firm's style unless you're at a client meeting), with dress down for charity every Friday."
Second year trainee, Southampton
"We are in the middle of relocating to a new office in Manchester since we outgrew the one we were in. We are due to move into a new build in January 2017. Dress code is smart business wear."
First year trainee, Manchester
"Birmingham is the snazziest right now!"
Second year trainee, Solent

2015

"The office I work in is good, and there are dress down Fridays too."
Second year trainee, Southampton
"Shoosmiths is not a suits/ties sort of firm unless the occasion requires it, and dress down Fridays are a perk."
First year trainee, Southampton
"While I find that the offices vary, the newer offices have the best facilities and desk areas (for example, Birmingham has the most comfortable chairs!). However, all the offices I have been to have pleasant environments."
First year trainee, Southampton

2014

"Some offices look better externally than others. However, all seem to be very similar internally and the branding is reflected throughout."
Second year trainee, Milton Keynes
"Varies from office to office. Birmingham is excellent, and Hardman Street in Manchester is very good. The firm is currently looking for a new Manchester office to house the entire Manchester team."
First year trainee, Manchester
"We are right in the centre of Manchester, Spinningfields, and the offices have impressive views. The office is currently split over two buildings due to the fast expansion and it will be good to be reunited when office space becomes available."
Second year trainee, Manchester
"Most of the offices are very nice, but one is in need of a bit of refurbishment. The dress code is fairly relaxed where it does not impact upon client service."
Second year trainee, Milton Keynes
"Birmingham is the newest and most fancy office in my opinion. However, all of the offices are well maintained, with each person having a good amount of desk space. The dress code is formal, except for Fridays when it is a dress down day every week."
First year trainee, Southampton
"Office locations are good and the facilities are also excellent, subject to IT glitches. Dress code is smart/professional with the option to wear dress down on Friday and pay £1 to charity."
First year trainee, Milton Keynes
"The open plan offices are great for socialising; the noise level can occasionally make things challenging when trying to concentrate or under pressure to get something done. That said, we have quiet rooms that we can go to if we need to focus."
First year trainee, Reading

2013

"Light spacious, open plan office. The coffee machine is not free! Smart-casual dress code with dress down every Friday!"
First year trainee, Milton Keynes
"I think the Solent office is a great office although it is on a business park which can be annoying. Every Friday we have dress down Friday for charity which is really appreciated by myself and colleagues."
Second year trainee, Southampton
"Reading office is in an excellent location and is accessed via a covered walkway from the train station. Facilities are adequate but IT sometimes slow and frustrating. The dress code is relatively relaxed when in the office."
Second year trainee, Reading
"The new branding makes everything much more bright and colourful which is good!"
First year trainee, Reading
"The Manchester office is a great space in Spinningfields. Whilst most of our other offices are in similar city centre locations, our Head office and Solent office are out of town on industrial estates."
Second year trainee, Manchester
