What is the dress code?

Dress smart & presentable with a consciousness that you could be meeting your future employer! We don't recommend wearing trainers but we do recommend you dressing comfortably.

Can I bring a friend?

Kind of - you can't just bring them along, as they will need to register. We in fact have a Refer a Friend Scheme. You should send your friend a link to register, and when they fill out the section 'Where did you hear about this event?' they should put your name. If you both attend the event, you'll both receive a £15 Amazon voucher some weeks after the event!

Is this a whole day event?

Nope! This is an afternoon/evening event, running from 2:30pm until 7:00pm.

Is the process highly competitive and selective?

Once you apply, one of our targetjobs Events Team will call you for a short interview. This is an informal interview to assess your understanding and suitability for the event. It's not overly competitive but it is selective! We select students to invite based on Chamber Student Criteria and enthusiasm. So if you get in, it's by merit!

Can I invite my friends?

Yes, you can! We have a Refer a Friend Scheme for that exact reason. You can refer your friends to come, but they have to complete the same application process as you. Make sure they put your name down as their referee. If you both attend, you'll get a £15 Amazon voucher each!

Black Excellence at the Bar is back again in 2026 for incredible Black Heritage aspiring Barristers! It's targetjobs' annual and popular event! You can expect another year of insightful workshops, inspiring panel sessions, and invaluable networking opportunities.
