The application to the event was fairly straightforward as it just required a phone call and a casual chat to assess that I had the potential to benefit from the event.
The application to the graduate scheme involved many stages and was a very long process. I started my first assessment in November, however, was only told I was successful around March the following year. However, I felt that the confidence TARGETjobs gave me with that really helped.
My favourite part of the event was the group challenge as it strongly resembled the group challenges, I had to do at assessment centres and was great practice. My confidence really improved, and when I received feedback from the assessment centres, I generally performed best in that area. At the event it was great to network with other women in tech. I have stayed in contact with some of the women I met on the day and seen others who have been to the event at assessment days.
Since attending the TARGETjobs event I have attended graduate assessment centres and had interviews with partners of the event including IBM, Bloomberg and BT. I decided to join the BT graduate technology scheme. TARGETjobs helped by sending my CV to employers who were at the event, giving me helpful and realistic information about the workplace, and made the whole process of getting hired a lot easier than it would have been otherwise.
