AI Enablement & Systems Intern

We’re looking for a sharp, hands-on technical intern to help us bring practical AI into Volpi’s day-to-day operations, particularly in go-to-market / CRM related use cases. You won’t be building models from scratch. You’ll be integrating tools, wiring APIs, and turning real business workflows into automated systems that save the investment team time and give us an edge, to identify relevant targets for investment, and getting in front of the right people at the right time.

You’ll work directly with the deal team to prototype and deploy the top AI use cases highlighted internally: improving outbound origination, automating follow-ups, surfacing triggers and news, and connecting our data sources so information flows without friction.

If you like solving real problems, not writing theoretical papers, you’ll enjoy this.

What you’ll work on:

1. Internal AI projects

   1. Build and test GPT-based agents to support back-office and investment workflows.

   2. Build lightweight automation around Outlook, Affinity (CRM), and web-scraping pipelines.

   3. Create internal tools that pull data from multiple sources and turn it into alerts, summaries, or draft emails.

2. Tool integrations & workflow automation

   1. Connect Copilot, ChatGPT, or custom GPTs to our Egnyte file system.

   2. Prototype small web apps or PowerApps to move data between systems (e.g., Affinity → web scraper → weekly investor alerts).

   3. Package the tools in a way the team can actually use — not just demos.

3. Data engineering & APIs

   1. Build and maintain API integrations to fetch, clean, and aggregate data.

   2. Set up small ETL flows to monitor targets and portfolio companies.

   3. Use Python, SQL, or whatever you prefer to deliver dashboards or structured outputs.

What we’re looking for

You don’t need 10 years’ experience — but you do need to be able to ship things and have some experience within IT.

Must-haves

• Curiosity and willingness to experiment fast

• Ability to build small front-end or no-code interfaces (React, PowerApps, or similar).

• Confidence working with APIs and authentication.

• Familiarity with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Azure, etc.).

• Good Python skills (requests, pandas, basic ML libraries, small scripts).

• Basic understanding of data engineering concepts.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with web scraping.

• SQL knowledge.

• Comfort working with cloud storage systems or document search.

• Some exposure to Power BI, Looker, or similar analytics tools.
