Role:

We are looking for an Engineer with PLC, microcontroller and HMI experience to develop machine control automation within our development team. This is a challenging but hugely rewarding role, where you will see your work realised and deployed quickly into the market.

This role requires you to be able to demonstrate the following skills and competencies:

The role will involve

  • PLC programming using common IDEs.
  • Apply working knowledge of common microcontroller architectures to implement and test moderately complex electromechanical or electro-pneumatic solutions.
  • Creating, scripting, and running test programs to ensure machine control systems are functioning as intended.
  • Great communication: Liaising with external suppliers and contractors related to automation and control development.
  • Organise, create and maintaining a growing library of modular machine and UI code libraries using a GIT based approach.
  • Create and maintain electrical and pneumatic drawings and schematics.
  • Create and maintain requirements, system architecture and ICD documents

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Degree in Electrical/Electronics/Mechatronics/Computer Engineering/Software Development or equivalent demonstratable experience.
  • Given the scope of this role, you may have programming experience in several areas but need to learn others to cover the range. Either way you will be curious and keen to learn more to fill any gaps in your knowledge and experience.
  • You may have previously worked as a PLC Software Engineer, Automation Control Engineer, Machine System Control Developer within industrial automation sectors such as Food & Drink production; Oil & Gas; Manufacturing; HVAC. Or you may have programmed PLCs for standalone products/ machines
  • Programming HMIs using Android Studio or equivalent.
  • 2- way communication within smart factory/ Industry 4.0 environments.
  • CANopen experience
  • Simple PCB design
  • Ideally you will have some experience of industrial automation using PLC control with many examples of work that demonstrate how you have tackled similar challenges we will need to overcome in the future.
  • You will be driven, curious, collaborative, inventive and tenacious to get the job done and work within a tight knit Development team.
  • Or alternatively you don’t have the direct experience but are convinced you can deliver in this role.
  • Passion for Engineering both in the professional field and vocationally a benefit
