The type of business development, marketing and communications professionals we are looking for are self-starters, who are well organized and eager to make a difference to the world of innovation and enjoy lateral thinking. Finding pleasure in preparing stimulating events, promoting the Company through various digital and offline marketing strategies and good writing capabilities would be very desirable.

Since you will be working in the area of Intellectual property/competition law and economics, it is highly encouraged to have some experience or at least proven interest in IP law; particularly in the ICT space. We would find it a real help if you had some knowledge of intellectual property/competition law and economics.

OxFirst was founded over twelve years ago by academics at Oxford University and the aim of our think tank is to provide economic assessments to high-technology firms, public policy makers and international organizations. Our studies, conferences and events have served as baseline of key decisions on technology and innovation law & strategy in the World Bank, UNDP, the UK Government, but also in firms like Intel or Google. Our flagship conference is the IP & Competition Forum, which attracts senior policy makers, judges, in house counsel and top tier law firms from around the world.

This job will be in our London office, with some hybrid options, depending on mutual understanding.

  • Organize and Manage Conferences, Round table Discussions & Events
  • Organize Targeted Business Development Campaigns
  • Prepare & Execute on Marketing, PR and Business Development Strategies
  • Run Press Campaigns
  • Engage in PR Activities
  • Dare to Engage with Senior Thought Leaders in the Industry

Skills Required

  • Self-starter, able to work independently.
  • High organizational skills
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Good understanding of intellectual property
  • Ability to write briefs about IP and business strategy
  • Experience and interest in organizing conferences for a high-level audience
  • Positive ‘Can do’ attitude

People Skills

  • Ability to promote and adequately communicate about the achievements of the Firm

Ability to:

  • Prepare conferences, events, roundtable discussions & webinars
  • Promote and market the company & its clients through all adequate channels
  • Reach out & identify new business opportunities
  • Write original material, edit, proofread and finalize written material
  • Work completely and accurately under time constraints and deadlines.
  • Motivate people to engage with OxFirst
  • Know-how of intellectual property/competition law/economics

Academic Qualification:

  • Educated at least to B.A. level in Law (intellectual property), Marketing, Media & Entertainment, Communications, Business or other areas you see fit. As you will primarily be acting in the legal space, a good understanding of the issues at stake would be of help.
  • Excellent academic track record
