Job Description

This is an entry-level role for someone looking to learn more about how a business operates and will provide exposure to operational delivery, finance, commercial, bid development, health, safety and environment, and work winning.

The Roads Sector delivers national road projects and maintenance to National Highways, Local Authorities and Transport for London. This role spans the sector supporting the Roads Senior Leadership team.

Responsibilities

• Hold the SLT and project leaders to account against actions relating to the business plan
• Support with the team’s internal business performance reporting, including reporting to Sector, Divisional and Executive levels
• Ensure operational projects provide reporting information in a timely and accurate manner
• Support in maintaining and checking the pipeline of opportunities
• Support in the creation of business cases and reports for improvement projects
• Grow into a position of managing and leading discrete improvement projects
• Developing collateral, including liaising with colleagues outside of the Sector – Value Propositions, video and other formats
• Support in developing proposals for commercial opportunities
• Developing case studies for tenders or presentations
• Liaising with other parts of the business to obtain input to demonstrate capabilities and/or experience to Clients
• Developing and implementing solutions to make the day-to-day running of the team more effective/efficient
• Other general support to the team

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

• Highly articulate and able to interpret and understand business reports
• The ability to write clear documents using basic MS software
• The ability to translate data into written reports
• Confident in meeting new people and asking probing questions
• Curious and the ability to learn from experience
• At ease with asking questions to better understand requirements/processes etc.
• Effective communication skills

Desirable

• Flexible and able to travel for occasional site visits
