Our Commitment

We are committed to finding the best candidates, so if you’re excited by the prospect of joining Supercritical then we encourage you to apply, even if you don't meet all of the requirements. Your unique skills and experiences may be exactly what we're looking for.

Whether you’re motivated by technical challenges, opportunities for growth, or being part of a mission-driven organisation, you’ll find a welcoming environment at Supercritical. We value trust and transparency.

Supercritical is proud to foster an inclusive environment. We believe diversity drives innovation and we ensure that every team member feels welcomed, valued, and empowered to succeed. We encourage applicants of all genders, ethnicities, backgrounds, and abilities to apply and help shape the future of clean energy.

The Opportunity

Supercritical is seeking a highly motivated, analytical, and proactive Intern to join our dynamic team and play a key role in shaping the future of green hydrogen. Joining the commercial team, you'll be immersed in the fast-paced world of a startup intent on disrupting the energy industry and enabling a net-zero future. You'll have the opportunity to dive into diverse and challenging projects, gaining invaluable experience across various commercial functions, from market analysis (in person events included) to business development (with real customer engagement) and customer and grant strategy development.

Just as our engineers pioneer innovative solutions to complex technical challenges, you will be encouraged to bring your curiosity and fresh perspective to identify and pursue commercial opportunities. You will contribute to scaling our commercial operations, supporting activities ranging from identifying funding opportunities and crafting compelling proposals to analysing market trends and developing effective commercial strategies. You'll learn to ask, “How can we improve this process, capture this market, or better communicate our value?”

This internship will provide you with hands-on experience in a rapidly growing company, working alongside co-founders and experienced leaders. In the close-knit community that only a start-up can offer, you’ll develop a broad skillset, hone your commercial acumen, and build an empowering understanding of how commercial strategy drives the success of a cutting-edge technology company.

What You'll Do

  • Research opportunities within the deep tech, hydrogen, and green hydrogen sectors related to commercialisation activities (funding, partners, investors, customers, markets, etc.).
  • Leverage your analytical techniques with the latest tools to digest market data and report into the business the trends you see and the suggestions you have.
  • Act as first responder to incoming customer enquiries, qualifying commercial leads.
  • Present findings with wider business on Team Days to inform colleagues about relevant developments within the market.
  • Help prepare materials for meetings and presentations with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Support the development of marketing materials for industry professionals (video product demos, blog posts, website articles, poster content, etc.).
  • Deliver the social media strategy with appropriate content at a good frequency.
  • Support the CPO, Business Development Manager and Product Manager in the development and submission of proposals and grant applications.
  • Perform administrative tasks as needed (comparing and proofreading documents, scheduling meetings, taking meeting minutes, etc.).
  • Assist in improving internal processes and systems, such as organising data storage and testing the feasibility of new ideas.
  • Roll-up your sleeves and get stuck in a wide variety of things. In start-ups, we wear many hats. You’ll be in the commercial team but be exposed to the ongoings of the whole business.

What You'll Get

  • Take ownership and accountability for tasks you wouldn’t get at a large corporate.
  • Gain a better understanding of the scaling of a startup and learn about all the moving parts, including business development, growth strategy, funding and investment, finances, risk analysis and how everything ties together.
  • Learn about the technical and scientific aspects of the business related to hydrogen electrolysis.
  • Consistent feedback on performance and the opportunity to ask questions and learn with experienced founders and team members.

Salary

  • £28,808 per annum pro rata (£554 per 40-hour week) - the London Living Wage
  • Your employment structure will be as a contractor to Supercritical - i.e. You will invoice for the days that you work, and you will manage tax yourself. We can help explain this structure if it is new to you. You will not be on a PAYE employment contract.
  • You will be able to take 25 days (+ bank holidays) per annum pro rata as unpaid leave.

Other Benefits

  • Flexible start and finish times
  • Flexible work days to align with class schedules

Growth Opportunities

  • Wide range of exposure and development
  • Monthly Team Days & Lunch Outings
  • Team Milestone Celebrations

  • Be pursuing a career in clean tech, commercialisation of technology or business leadership.
  • Have a degree / MBA or be pursuing a degree / MBA.
  • Be inherently curious and demonstrate the ability to find opportunities to solve problems (e.g. market developments that might make for good commercial opportunities).
  • Be a self-starter and proactively identify problems and pursue solutions.
  • Be willing and capable to think creatively and be confident in contributing perspectives in a wider team.
  • Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
