Eligibility

To apply for this role, you must:

  • Be an undergraduate at a UK university on a business-related, marketing or management degree

  • Have the option to undertake a 12-month industrial placement as a formal part of your degree

  • Be available to start in September 2026 and complete a full 12 months in role

  • Have the right to work in the UK for the duration of the placement

  • Be returning to your final year of undergraduate study at the end of the placement

About the role

This 12-month placement is designed for an ambitious undergraduate who wants meaningful experience across the breadth of a commercial pharmaceutical team. Rather than being siloed into one function, you’ll work across marketing, business intelligence, and sales operations, collaborating with cross-functional teams on live brand activity, customer campaigns, and data-driven decisions. CRM management through Veeva (Salesforce platform) will be central to your development. You’ll leave with a portfolio of tangible work, professional pharma experience, and a strong foundation for a career in commercial life sciences.

What you’ll do

Marketing

  • Supporting the planning and execution of multi-channel marketing campaigns

  • Helping develop promotional materials, working through the regulatory approval process

  • Coordinating logistics for webinars, congresses, and customer-facing events

Business intelligence

  • Analysing sales performance, market data, and customer engagement metrics

  • Building dashboards and reports to inform commercial decision making

  • Supporting territory analysis, targeting and segmentation work

  • Supporting day-to-day administration and reporting within Veeva CRM

Sales Operations

  • Helping the field team get the most out of CRM through training, data quality, and reporting

  • Supporting preparation of materials for cycle meetings and team updates

  • Helping maintain sales tracking tools and incentive scheme administration

Cross-functional

  • Supporting coordination of customer-facing activities, materials, and events

  • Contributing to internal projects including our ongoing AI and digital transformation work

  • Producing presentations, briefing documents, and data visualisations for internal and external audiences

Essential Requirements

  • On track to achieve a 2:1 or above in your undergraduate degree

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence to engage colleagues at all levels

  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams

  • Highly organised, able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • A genuine interest in marketing, commercial strategy, and/or the healthcare and pharmaceutical sector

  • An analytical mindset, comfortable working with data to draw out insights and inform decisions

  • A proactive, self-starting attitude with a willingness to ask questions, take ownership, and learn quickly

  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when working with customer data and content

Desirable

  • Interest in life sciences, healthcare, or pharma, demonstrated through modules, projects, or reading

  • Awareness of, or exposure to, CRM systems, through coursework, projects, or previous work experience

  • Understanding of the role of digital and omnichannel marketing in a regulated industry

  • Exposure to website editing (e.g. WordPress, Webflow) or design tools such as Figma, Canva, Photoshop

  • Experience using data visualisation, analytics tools (e.g. Power BI, Google Analytics)

What we offer

  • £25,000 per annum, 35hrs per week, 12-month fixed term contract, with initial 3-month review period

  • 25 days annual leave (3 days between Christmas and New Year), bank holidays and your birthday off
