INTERNAL JOB - This vacancy is only available to Newport City Council employees and Agency Workers currently engaged with the Council.

Job Description
Are you thinking about a career in public libraries? Would you like to learn more about the role of a librarian and how to effectively engage with our communities? Do you have a passion for new technologies? If so, Newport Libraries have the role for you through a temporary, full-time placement opportunity.
Fully funded by the Welsh government, your role will be to support the Community Engagement Librarian, Digitisation Lead, and Library Manager in creating a geocaching app that enlivens the local histories collection. You will directly engage with members of Newport's diverse populations, hosting creative writing and storytime creation sessions for children, young people, and families. Shadowing and reporting to the Community Engagement Librarian, you will be able to learn firsthand about the role and the potential for a career as a librarian.
Workplace Culture and Values
We welcome applications for all our jobs in either Welsh or English. An application submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favorably than an application submitted in English.
Newport City Council is committed to working towards its workforce being more representative of the population that we serve and particularly welcomes applications from people from minority ethnic communities represented (or living) in the city. Selection will be made on the ability and skills to undertake the role.
Newport City Council is not currently supporting applicants with sponsorship for the right to work. In applying for a vacancy, applicants should already have the right to work in the UK.
