Country Manager - End-of-studies internship leading to a permanent Country Manager role
In 6 months, you run a country.
Bilingual, entrepreneurial, and dreaming of running your own market? This role was made for you.
Most top-school graduates wait ten years to lead a country. At Voltaback, that is where you start. You join the founding team taking Europe by storm, with one Future Country Manager per market: Benelux, DACH, the UK, Iberia, Italy...
- 3 months in Paris: intensive training in sales, product, and legal, and the launch of your country.
- 3 months on the ground: you move to your country, meet your prospects, and sign your first customers.
- At the end of your internship: you become Country Manager and build your own team.
The company
Voltaback helps companies switch their vehicle fleets to electric. When employees charge their company cars at home, we make sure they are paid back for every kWh, automatically and fairly.
In just 1 year on the market, Voltaback already serves more than 200 corporate customers, including 20% of the CAC 40 (France's 40 largest listed companies).
Every company in Europe is going electric, and every country does it its own way. Having proven the model in France, we are now taking it across Europe. This is the moment when everything gets built, and we are looking for the people who will build it.
The role
You take full ownership of a European market: from the first prospecting call to the first signed contract, then to the local team you hire.
Markets to open
- Benelux: Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg - Dutch
- DACH: Germany, Austria, Switzerland - German
- UK: United Kingdom, Ireland - Native or bilingual English
- Iberia: Spain, Portugal - Spanish or Portuguese
- Italy: Italy - Italian
- Another market in mind? The Nordics, Poland, Central Europe... If you speak the language and have the drive to open it, apply and let’s talk.
Phase 1: you launch your market (pre-hire internship)
- Map your target market: its key players, regulatory framework, and commercial specifics.
- Build and prioritise a list of high-potential accounts.
- Prospect actively by phone, email, LinkedIn, and at industry events.
- Run the first meetings, qualify needs, and move opportunities through to closing.
- Design pilots with your first customers and follow their rollout through to proof of value.
- Build business cases, manage a sales pipeline, and contribute to revenue forecasts.
- Feed back to the product and legal teams what your market specifically needs in terms of tax, contracts, language, and integrations.
- Prepare step by step to take on the Country Manager role and build a lasting local presence.
Phase 2: you lead your country (Country Manager)
- You relocate and represent Voltaback with customers and partners.
- You own revenue and present the country strategy to the leadership team.
- You hire and manage your own team.
The internship is a genuine pre-hire period: prove yourself, and you officially become Country Manager.
You won't be on your own
You are trained and coached directly by the founders:
- Sales/Business: prospecting, discovery, demo, negotiation, and key account closing.
- Product: the platform, telematics, integrations, and our savings simulators.
- Legal and tax: charging reimbursement, benefits in kind, GDPR, and contracts in your country.
- Business and management: business cases, country P&L, pipeline management, hiring.
Why this is a rare opportunity
- Executive responsibility straight out of school, with a whole country in your hands.
- Direct access to the founders, to the customers, to the partnerships with no layers in between.
- A learning curve few roles offer: sales, strategy, legal, and management in one job.
- A European founding team: ambitious people each opening their market and sharing what works.
- A sector that matters: accelerating the electrification of corporate fleets. You would rather build a market than inherit one. You want real responsibility, fast, and you are ready to go and get it.
Education and qualifications
- Education: final year at a top 5 French business school (HEC, ESSEC, ESCP, EDHEC, emlyon), a leading engineering school (Polytechnique, CentraleSupélec, Mines Paris) or an international university of the same level. End-of-studies internships only, pre-hire internship only.
- Languages: fluent French or English to work with internal teams, and your market's language at a fluent level (C1 to native): Dutch, German, Spanish, Portuguese, or Italian. You can run a client meeting and negotiate in that language.
- A strong drive to act: you move before you have every answer.
- Ownership and autonomy: you take a target, carry it, and are accountable for it.
- A taste for selling: picking up the phone, hearing no, calling back, closing.
- A pioneer's mindset: opening a country means many closed doors before the first open one, and that motivates you.
- The ambition to lead: you want to build a team and move to your target country.
Nice to have: B2B sales, consulting, or startup experience, an entrepreneurial project, an interest in energy and electric mobility.
- First call of 30 minutes with Aubin - Chief of Staff, partly in your market's language.
- Case study of 60 minutes with Arnaud - Co-founder & CEO, your 90-day plan to attack your market + a call role-play.
- Meet the team & the founders.
In your application, tell us which market you want to open and why you.
