The Graduate Data Engineer role:

You will be a crucial member of the cross-border IT team, working to develop, implement, and monitor AI solutions across our existing applications. Your focus will be on enhancing decision-making, improving quality, and driving efficiency through rigorous data analysis, advanced modelling, and performance tracking. Your work will impact your colleagues across five countries.

Key Responsibilities of the Graduate Data Engineer:

  • Design, develop, and implement AI-powered solutions with a focus on data analytics, using tools like Google Cloud Platform
  • Integrate AI solutions into existing applications, ensuring seamless data flow and accurate results.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to define requirements and identify opportunities for AI-driven improvements.
  • Perform detailed data analysis using AI models and advanced tools to derive actionable insights and inform business strategies.
  • Implement AI compliance and ethical standards, ensuring responsible use of data.
  • Develop and implement monitoring and alert systems for tracking AI solution performance.
  • Mac or PC setup, based on your preference.

You should appreciate that AI involves both technology and business, and you should be excited to make technology work for better business outcomes.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Data Science, AI, Machine Learning, or a related field (Master's preferred, or a Bachelor's with some relevant work experience).
  • Has passion for big data, data discovery, and preprocessing.
  • Proficiency in SQL (PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server), Python, PyTorch, Pandas, scikit-learn, Vertex AI (Google Cloud), and Jupyter Notebook.
  • Good knowledge of AI models, machine learning models, fine-tuning, and model testing.
  • Experience in the insurance industry is a plus, but not essential.
  • Structured, with excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written.

The position is based in Manchester and reports to the Lead AI Development. Protector also has offices in the Nordics, with headquarters in Oslo, Norway. Some travel may be required.
