Job Purpose

To lead and manage the implementation of high-quality experiential learning (internships and curriculum-embedded placements) for our students to be equipped to achieve graduate success. The role will focus on academic programs that do not currently have internships and placements, ensuring our students gain the real-world experience they need post-graduation.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of clear processes for managing experiential learning and placements for undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
  • Build a pipeline of internships and work-based learning opportunities.
  • Build frameworks for embedding, delivering, and assessing experiential learning opportunities in the curriculum.
  • Establish and implement a comprehensive project plan with success criteria, measures, risk mitigation, project timelines, and workstreams.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and placement providers to manage deliverables and service level agreements.
  • Design and deliver appropriate content to promote placement opportunities to students.
  • Work collaboratively across institutional governance structures, ensuring project progress, risks, and issues are reported appropriately.
  • Lead the development and implementation of effective placement administration for academic programs.
  • Forecast, plan, and identify placement learning needs, ensuring early notice of changes to supply and demand.
  • Create a database of student placement hours, achieving accurate records on all processes related to placements.
  • Create a placement toolkit for supporting students and placement providers before, during, and post-placements.
  • Create an onboarding system for compliance with partnership agreements.
  • Comply with the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR; Health and Safety; and Equality and Diversity requirements.

Education, Qualifications & Training

  • Degree, Postgraduate, CPD, or equivalent professional qualification(s)

Knowledge & Experience

  • Experience of administration or project management in careers and placement learning
  • Substantial experience of implementing the design, development, and implementation of experiential learning
  • Substantial experience of organization and delivery of careers and placements in higher education
  • Experience of working with a range of stakeholders to deliver effective project implementation
  • Specialist knowledge and experience of embedding quality assurance, Data Protection, and confidentiality issues in experiential learning
  • Experience of student placement administration, advice, and support
  • Experience of customer service and/or employers

Skills

  • Proven ability to use Microsoft Office and with database management
  • Written and verbal communication skills internally and externally
  • Organizational, event, and project planning skills
  • Demonstrable experience of solving complex problems
