To support our growth strategy, we are looking to recruit talented graduates to join our team as Financial Research Analysts.

Your Journey...

Become an outstanding analyst
Supported by close mentorship and our Analyst Academy, you will learn and develop the fundamental skills of being a Megabuyte analyst including modelling company accounts, analysing corporate transactions and writing a range of research, as well as how to build CEO research relationships.

Become a highly regarded sector expert
Once you have mastered the fundamentals, you will apply and grow your analyst skills in a particular market area. This will involve leading conversations with CEOs, writing in-depth research and distilling your thoughts on a company or an area of the market to our investor, advisor and corporate clients.

...and the skills you'll develop

  • Financial analysis – Studying and interpreting company accounts, corporate transactions and valuation metrics.
  • Written research – Investigating and writing a range of research from short news-driven analysis through to in-depth market reports.
  • Research coverage expansion – Be responsible for growing our research coverage in a particular part of the market.
  • Growing CEO relationships – Building and maintaining a network of CEOs to enhance our research.
  • Supporting consultancy projects – Provide support to Senior Analysts on M&A and due diligence consultancy projects.

What we look for in Graduates:

  • Educated to degree standard with a mathematics-based degree in finance, economics, maths or the sciences.
  • An analytical mind combined with the creativity to assimilate, distil and express complex theories succinctly and directly, both verbally and in the written word.
  • Strong writing skills, underpinned by a thorough understanding of grammar, syntax and spelling.
  • The ability to learn quickly and work under pressure, to tight-deadlines, without compromising outputs in what can be an intense working environment.
  • Entrepreneurial, self-motivated and well-organised.
  • A natural and pro-active communicator, who can instigate and maintain an active dialogue with companies and other key stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills appropriate to the level of interaction required with seasoned CEOs and other senior executives.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially in Excel.
  • An understanding of company accounts is an advantage but not essential.

Our interview process is designed to be as simple as possible, whilst still enabling both candidate and company to get a clear understanding as to whether the role is right for them. We operate a two-stage process. In the first interview, the candidate will meet with the heads of department to understand more about the company and the role and for us to get an initial feel for the candidate’s aptitude for the role.

If the candidate is successful in the first round, they will be asked to attend an assessment afternoon where writing and company analysis skills will be tested. The candidate will also have a chance to meet with other members of the research team.

Interviews will be held at Megabuyte’s Reading offices or online if your circumstances require this.
