Our company

Global Water Intelligence (GWI) is the leading specialist publisher and events organiser serving the international water sector. We create value by connecting people and ideas to solve the world’s water challenges. It is delivered by a brilliant and committed team of editors, communicators, project managers, and sales people based in our central Oxford headquarters.

Our revenues come from two main sources: selling subscriptions to our business intelligence platform and organising the Global Water Summit. Both products are highly respected by our customers and unchallenged market leaders in our sector.

The context

The world isn’t running out of water. We’ve still got the same amount we had when the world was made. It is just that the challenge of managing our resources is getting more difficult. 69% of the impact of climate change is being felt through the water cycle. It means floods and droughts are becoming more extreme. At the same time urbanisation and economic growth are putting new strains on both the quality and quantity of water available. It adds up to one of the greatest challenges of the 21st century. Global Water Intelligence is in the business of fixing it.

The role

The Global Content lead is responsible for motivating and managing our team of regional editors and researchers to ensure that they are providing the data and information our customers need to do their jobs. It involves:

  • Setting the objectives for different areas of our global coverage including our project tracking service and our country profiles in discussion with our senior management team.
  • Communicating these objectives to our team of regional editors and researchers and working with them to ensure that they are fully delivered.
  • Ensuring that all of the content we publish are delivered to the highest standards of timeliness, accuracy and adequacy.
  • Being prepared to roll up your sleeves and fill in for the team where necessary.
  • Looking out for development opportunities that will help us grow the business.

About you

We are looking for a content professional who has already begun the transition to a management role and is now looking for more responsibility. You should have the following qualities:

  • Leadership: Great stakeholder management skills, combined with self-awareness. An ability to understand and connect with your co-workers.
  • Drive: You should want to deliver the best, with the ability to make others feel the same. Ability to unlock your team’s hidden strengths and energies.
  • Lead in service of others : You should have skills in listening, conceptualisation, empathy, community-building, stewardship and a commitment to growth.
  • Commercially minded : We are in business to have an impact on the world, but we can only deliver that impact if we are a successful organisation.
  • Adaptable: The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, including taking initiative and showing ownership of tasks. Also, the adaptability to travel internationally as and when required.
  • Intellectually curious: Our team are innovators, with deep knowledge and good experience. You’ll need the ability to challenge, to contribute, and to lead in this space.
