Working alongside other Departments and the Group Procurement Team​​ to ensure the product is available for Taylor Wimpey Business Units (TW BU) orders in a timely manner, whilst keeping inventory levels within agreed limits.

A buyer is responsible for sourcing and procuring construction materials and services at competitive prices while maintaining quality and adhering to project timelines. Key duties include developing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, controlling costs, ensuring quality standards, optimizing the supply chain, and maintaining compliance with regulations.

The buyer's role is critical in supporting efficient and cost-effective construction operations.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join the Taylor Wimpey Trainee Programme and train to become a qualified Buyer. This role is ideal for recent graduates who have earned their degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction, or a Planning-focused discipline and are eager to develop their professional experience.

Throughout your training, you will gain valuable experience in the following areas:

Tender Process

  • Successful drawing review and identifying missing information.
  • Understand the systems and efficiencies in management of revisions
  • Issue accurate all-inclusive tender packs
  • Obtain relevant drawings from Suppliers for Site/Technical

S.I.T Budgets

Liaise with QS to compile budget in readiness for board approval

Transfer excel SIT to BOQ

Order Placement

  • COINS Material/Plant/Subcontract Order Placement
  • Understand Framework Agreements, Service Level Agreements & Contractual performance.
  • Benchmarking Services and Products - Understanding Market value.
  • COINS Matrix creation

Payments:

  • Querying invoice contents
  • Contra charging and issuing notices to withhold payments

What you will need:

  • A 2:1 Degree in a Built Environment or Construction Related Course
  • A Driving License
  • A Willingness to travel around your area
