RBB is an independent economics consultancy specialising exclusively in competition law. We advise clients, legal teams and competition authorities on some of the most complex economic questions facing businesses and regulators.
We have 17 offices around the world and work across a wide range of industries. Our projects cover all areas of competition economics, including:

Graduate Economist
As a Graduate Economist, you’ll become part of a multinational project team and contribute to live competition cases from the beginning of your career.
You’ll work alongside experienced economists, applying what you’ve learned during your studies to complex, real-world markets.
As you develop, you’ll have early opportunities to interact directly with clients, legal advisers and competition authorities. You’ll learn how to present sophisticated economic analysis in a way that is clear, robust and relevant to the questions being considered.
What you’ll be doing
Your work may include:
- Researching industries, competitors and market structures
- Evaluating market dynamics, commercial strategies and industry trends
- Gathering, reviewing and interpreting quantitative and qualitative evidence
- Using statistical analysis software to work with large or complex datasets
- Building economic and econometric models
- Carrying out regression analysis
- Applying economic theory to competition and regulatory questions
- Testing assumptions and evaluating alternative explanations
- Assisting with expert economic reports and presentations
- Preparing materials for clients, legal advisers and competition authorities
- Contributing to team discussions and case strategy
- Providing general economic consulting support and advice
No two cases are exactly the same. You could move between different industries, types of competition question and forms of analysis, building both your technical knowledge and commercial understanding.
What we’re looking for
You should have:
- A degree in economics, preferably at Master’s level
- A strong interest in microeconomics, industrial organisation or econometrics
- The ability to approach complex questions logically and critically
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
- The ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
- The confidence to contribute in a professional, client-facing environment
You should enjoy examining evidence, challenging assumptions and explaining what your analysis means—not simply producing a numerical result.
Summer internship
Our internships are designed for economics students who want to find out what a career in competition economics is really like.
Each summer, we offer short internships across our international office network. Internship opportunities may occasionally be available at other times of the year.
As an intern, you’ll experience the work of a specialist economics consultancy and learn how economic concepts are applied to real competition matters.
Depending on the project and office, you may help:
- Research an industry or relevant market
- Review market, company or competitor information
- Work with economic and commercial data
- Support quantitative or qualitative analysis
- Prepare charts, presentations or project materials
- Contribute to the work of a project team
- Learn how economists support legal and regulatory cases
Our internships offer an opportunity to develop your analytical skills, learn from experienced economists and decide whether competition economics is the right career for you.
On a number of occasions, RBB internships have led to permanent positions, either following the placement or once the candidate has completed their studies.
