The role is integral to Remada’s professional technical geo-environmental consultancy services, and your well-being, training, development and progression are important to us. It is our intention is for you to become an integral and committed member of our team and to gain experience and competence in order to take on increased responsibilities as we grow our business.

As a Graduate Consultant, we would expect you to develop your competences in both site work and office reporting.  You would have the support of colleagues and a mix of on-the-job training and outside courses and it is our intention that your skills and competences develop to the point where would be able to: 

  • Preparation of Health & Safety Plans, Risk Assessments and Method Statement in order to ensure safe practices of work;

  • Undertaking site investigation work to include trial pitting, window sampling and other investigation techniques such as cable tool drilling and coring;

  • Undertaking soillogging, soil and groundwater sampling, plate load tests, CBR tests, soakaway tests, scheduling of soil and groundwater samples and monitoring;

  • Experiencing a wide range of soil types and ground conditions;

  • Supervising sub-contracted site investigationoperations;

  • Working alone on-site when necessary, for example to undertake gas and groundwater monitoring;

  • Writing up exploratory logs and field notes using Holebase software and other specialist applications;

  • Preparing drawings of sample locations and details using Adobe Illustrator or similar;

  • Preparation of Desk Study reports and writing up site reconnaissance notes;

  • Preparing factual ground investigation reports;

  • Assisting senior consultants with the preparation of interpretative reports, remediation strategies, preliminary foundation design recommendations, waste assessments, management plans, completion reports and verification reports;

Training courses would run in parallel to your hands on experience and include for example, safe working on geotechnical sites, asbestos awareness, first aid, soil and/or rock description, understanding geotechnical testing, foundation design. 

Minimum Requirements

  • Right to live and work in the UK;

  • Experience in ground investigation and/or remediation techniques and/or general construction;

  • Competent with Microsoft Office for Email, Word and Excel;

  • Full clean driving licence held for a minimum of 12 months;

  • CSCS Card or equivalent;

  • First Aid Training desirable.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BSc or MSc in Geology or related discipline.
