The Role
Do you want to make a difference for pupils in your community? Join us as a Graduate Maths Excellence Specialist.
This is an exciting and innovative pathway into teaching secondary mathematics with Co-op Academies Trust. With the generous backing of the Maths Excellence Fund, this opportunity is open to graduates who are passionate about mathematics and the power of education to make a difference in the lives of young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
We are looking for candidates who are hard-working, proactive, and committed to ensuring all children have a positive school experience that sets them up for the future.
We’re offering £37,101 per annum for a two-year role, followed by a guaranteed interview for the Co-op Academies Teacher Training Programme, continuing on the same incentivized salary at the start of your teaching career for successful applicants who remain with the Trust.
This is a new route into teaching, so we are not looking for candidates who already have qualified teacher status.
You will work with high-attaining pupils, providing academic interventions, enrichment activities, and maths masterclasses in a Co-op Academy, starting with small groups and building towards working with whole classes.
This post comes with the unique opportunity to continue into a graduate pathway in Co-op Academies Trust on the salaried mathematics teacher training programme and, subject to successful completion, continue as a qualified teacher. We want to develop our Maths Graduates to be suitable candidates for Co-op Academies Trust leadership pathways.
Why us?
Co-op Academies Trust is a place where you are part of something bigger, through a leading education and opportunities to serve our community, we are working together to make a better world. From ages 3-19 Co-op Academies Trust supports students in Primary, Secondary, and Special schools across the North of England, giving children the skills and experiences they need to succeed, no matter where they come from.
What makes our Trust unique is that we are sponsored by the Co-op Group. That close relationship means that we benefit from all the business expertise that has seen the Co-op grow into one of the most respected, successful businesses in the country.
Everyone in the Trust honors our fundamental commitment to the Ways of Being Co-op. They are our DNA; they represent our culture and reflect the rationale behind our decision-making. No matter what we do, they are how we do it.

- Be yourself, always
- Show you care
We are holding two informal, virtual information sessions for candidates that want to find out more about our Trust and this exciting opportunity.
We offer a wide range of benefits and rewards to recognize the part you play in our success:
- Membership of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme, a defined benefit pension scheme
