Graduate Process Engineer

Job description

We are looking to recruit a Graduate Process Engineer to work on a variety of projects relating to fluid flow systems, with a focus on mixing processes in both the nuclear and non-nuclear process sectors. The successful candidate will be lab focused, with activities including the performance and analysis of experimental data, as well as engineering calculations and documentation, and have the opportunity to develop technical skills by working on a range of projects and through internal and external training.

As part of the Process Engineering team in Framatome Ltd, your mission is to deliver high quality engineering output and contribute to the successful delivery of engineering research, design and consultancy projects for both internal and external clients in a safe and efficient manner.

You will be a part of the Process Engineering team and your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with peers, including other process engineers and those involved in the manufacture, set-up and operation of test rigs,
  • Performing experimental test work in the laboratory under the guidance of a more experienced engineer, and analysing and interpreting the results,
  • Presenting results and analysis to peers,
  • Performing calculations relating to the design and operation of fluid systems,
  • Producing documentation and contributing to technical reports,
  • Carrying out team activities while adhering to project budgets and deadlines,
  • Contribute to the development of company quality and health and safety processes.

The key outputs of the role will be:

  • Quality experimental data and associated analysis,
  • Presentation of engineering deliverables to peers,
  • Technical documentation.

It is expected that as experience grows, the successful applicant will:

  • Broaden their knowledge across a wide range of projects and technical areas, developing significant expertise in fluid dynamics and associated processes.
  • Lead small technical projects and coordinate teams of engineers and technicians.

You will be a passionate engineer committed to excellence in both safety and quality, and eager to be part of a growing team. We are seeking the following skills:

  • A Masters degree in Chemical/Process Engineering or a related discipline. Some experience working in industry is useful but not essential.
  • Good knowledge of single and multiphase fluid mechanics is essential. Knowledge of mixing processes and/or fluid rheology is desirable.
  • Knowledge or experience of lab testing, programming, and image or video analysis are desirable but not essential.
  • Strong analytical ability, with significant expertise using Microsoft Excel. Experience with data interpretation and statistical analysis are desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self motivated, well organised, and able to work at pace to deliver on time.
  • Driven to work safely and strive towards continual improvement in this area for themselves and across the business.
