About the Role

As part of our continued growth, we are offering an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join our Building Division in Livingston.

This role is ideal for a recent graduate or soon to be graduate who is looking to start their career in quantity surveying within a leading construction business. You'll gain hands on experience across live building projects, working alongside experienced commercial professionals who will support your development and help you build a strong foundation for a successful long term career.

What You'll Be Doing

With structured training and ongoing support, you will:

  • Assist with day to day quantity surveying and commercial activities on projects
  • Support the preparation of cost plans, budgets and financial forecasts
  • Assist with procurement activities, including tender preparation and evaluations
  • Help monitor project costs, variations and financial performance
  • Work closely with project teams, subcontractors and clients to support cost control
  • Support the preparation of reports and commercial documentation
  • Learn and apply relevant construction regulations, standards and best practice
  • Undertake site visits to support your technical and practical development
  • Work alongside senior quantity surveyors and project managers to achieve successful project outcomes

Essential Requirements

We're keen to hear from enthusiastic candidates who can demonstrate:

  • A degree (or expected degree) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related construction related discipline
  • A genuine interest in building a career as a Quantity Surveyor
  • Strong numerical, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Clear communication skills and confidence working with different stakeholders
  • A proactive, organised and eager to learn approach
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team

Desirable Criteria

The following would be beneficial but not essential:

  • Previous industry experience through a placement year, internship or work experience
  • An understanding of construction processes and procurement routes
  • Experience using commercial or estimating software
  • A desire to work towards RICS or a similar professional qualification
  • An interest in cost optimisation, sustainability or modern construction practices
