The King's School, Canterbury is seeking an exceptional Graduate Teacher of Debating (Specialist Debate and Oracy Instructor) to join our nationally recognised Debating and Oracy programme. This is a unique opportunity for an outstanding debater with a passion for teaching to inspire young people and help develop one of the UK's leading school debating programmes.

The successful candidate will take a leading role in teaching debating and oracy across Years 9-13, delivering a structured curriculum that develops pupils' critical thinking, public speaking and persuasive communication skills. You will provide expert coaching in British Parliamentary and ESU Mace debating, preparing students for national and international competitions through high-quality instruction, individual coaching and performance analysis. You will also contribute to the delivery of the School's Life Matters (RSHE) curriculum and support the wider academic development of pupils through oracy-based learning.

We are looking for a graduate with an outstanding background in competitive debating, excellent communication skills and the ability to inspire learners of all abilities. Experience of coaching debating and a commitment to developing young people both academically and pastorally are essential. A teaching qualification is not required, although a willingness to work towards one is welcomed.

The King's School is committed to ensuring the highest levels of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our pupils, and we expect all our staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We adopt a fair, robust and consistent recruitment process which is in line with the statutory Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance. This includes online checks for shortlisted candidates.

All offers of employment are subject to an Enhanced DBS check, references, and where applicable, a prohibition from teaching check.
