Graduate Teaching Associate in Aviation

Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to deliver a first-class student experience through research-informed teaching, impactful research, and knowledge exchange activities. You will support teaching and learning through the delivery of modules in conjunction with the Programme Leader. Typical duties include class teaching, personal tutorial support, provision of feedback to students, coursework assessment, and examination marking. You will work closely with colleagues across the College of Leadership and Innovation to ensure top-quality, inclusive teaching, learning, and research.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Act as a main point of contact for class teaching for one or more programmes.
- Demonstrate enhancement activities, as appropriate, in the delivery of programmes e.g., blended learning.
- Design and prepare teaching materials within the overall module/programme framework in conjunction with the Programme Leader, planning and delivering the curriculum using appropriate media.
- With support, undertake associated activities with the programmes taught including personal tutoring, student recruitment, assessment, review and evaluation.
- Prepare standard materials and questions for discussion about topics.
- Demonstrate techniques and how to use necessary equipment.
- Provide guidance on how to produce work at an appropriate academic level and preparation for examinations.
- Undertake examination marking duties and marking of assignments, essays, and exams using solutions provided by the programme leader.
- Provide effective feedback, support, and guidance to students to promote the improvement of performance.
- Manage late submission of assignments and refer to the Programme Leader if required.
- Administer the tutorial process, including late submissions.
- Contribute to the student experience by delivering excellent customer service as demonstrated in student feedback.
- Contribute to Open Days, school, college, and partnership links, and the marketing and promotional work of the cluster and/or College.
- Deliver pastoral care to, and project supervision of, students.
- Engage in professional development activities (e.g., CPD, attendance at conferences) relating to teaching, learning, and assessment.
- Maintain and foster the high reputation of the University in practice partner settings.
- Comply with relevant legislative and other requirements (e.g., Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR, Health and Safety, UKVI, and Equality and Diversity) in all working practices.
- Perform other reasonable duties as required by the Dean / Associate Dean of College.

Education, Qualifications & Training
- First Degree in a relevant field
- Working towards a relevant master’s degree
- Commitment to working towards and achieving a teaching qualification
Knowledge & Experience
- Adequate knowledge in discipline/field
- Specialist skills appropriate to the programs taught
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office software
Skills
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing with all stakeholders
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Ability to be flexible and to respond to changing priorities in a busy environment
- Excellent people skills with the ability to build good working relationships with colleagues and external partners
Special Requirements
- A willingness and ability to work in off-site locations
- A willingness and ability to contribute to University Open Days (which may fall on Saturdays)
