Graduate Teaching Associate in Physiotherapy

Part-time (0.6 FTE) – Fixed Term Contract (September 2026 – July 2027) – High Wycombe Campus

Salary – £33,951–£37,694 per annum (pro rata)

We are seeking a Graduate Teaching Associate (GTA) in Physiotherapy to join our growing College Health and Society on a fixed-term, part-time (0.6 FTE) basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring academic and clinician with a passion for teaching, clinical education and student development.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver practical teaching sessions, tutorials, and clinical skills teaching.
• Support students with placement preparation and employability.
• Provide academic support and formative feedback.
• Assist with assessment, marking, and OSCE preparation.
• Provide pastoral and academic support to students.
• Support the University's Primary Care Education Centre through the delivery of student-led physiotherapy clinics.
• Supervise physiotherapy students undertaking clinical placements, providing clinical education, feedback and assessment under HCPC and CSP standards.
• Work directly within the Primary Care Education Centre clinic for day-to-day clinical supervision and formal assessment of students' clinical competence.

This role also provides an opportunity to gain experience in primary care service delivery, clinical supervision, and healthcare education, while contributing to innovative student-led clinical services.

Applicant Requirements:

• Be a HCPC-registered Physiotherapist.
• Hold Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) membership.
• Have relevant clinical experience.
• Demonstrate interest in higher education teaching and student support.
• Be committed to developing an academic career.

Job Description:

The purpose of the role is to support teaching and learning through the delivery of modules in conjunction with the Course Leader. Typical duties include tutorial class teaching; personal tutorial support; provision of feedback to students; coursework assessment and examination marking.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach and support students by adopting a learner-centred approach and being committed to contributing towards delivering a first-class student experience.
• Contribute as part of the teaching team to the wider work of the Department/College.
• Practice an inclusive approach and support building an inclusive university community where people can be themselves.
• Act as a main point of contact for tutorial class teaching for one or more courses.
• In conjunction with the Course Leader, design and prepare teaching materials within the overall module/course framework.
• Undertake associated activities with the courses taught including personal tutoring, student recruitment, and assessments.
• Provide effective feedback, support and guidance to students.
• Management of late submissions of assignments and refer to the Course Leader, if required.
• Support the delivery of student-led physiotherapy clinics within the Primary Care Education Centre.
• Contribute to Open Days and other promotional work of the Department and/or College.
• Engage in professional development activities related to teaching, learning and assessment.
• Comply with relevant legislative and other requirements in all working practices.

Person Specification:

• First Degree in a relevant field.
• Commitment to working towards and achieving a teaching qualification.
• Adequate knowledge in discipline/field.
• Specialist skills appropriate to the courses taught.
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office software.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to communicate both orally and in writing with all stakeholders.
• Willingness to work in off-site locations and contribute to University Open Days.
