Job Description

At RTX, the world's largest aerospace and defense company, 185,000 great minds are united by purpose and inspired to make a difference solving the world’s most complex problems. With our three market-leading businesses, world-class operations, and investments in research and development, we offer capabilities and opportunity no one else can. Together, we push the boundaries of known science and find new ways to connect and protect our world. Raytheon brings the strength of more than 100 years of experience and renowned engineering expertise to meet today's mission needs and stay ahead of tomorrow's threats. We deliver solutions that help our nation and allies defend freedoms and deter aggression, creating a safer, more secure world.

Raytheon UK is seeking a hands-on Graduate Technical Support & Sustainment Engineer in Malvern to support complex IT systems used in defense, national security, and other critical environments. This varied role is suited for someone who enjoys understanding and working with technology: building systems, testing upgrades, solving problems, supporting customers, and potentially traveling to sites in the UK and overseas when needed.

You will be involved across the full lifecycle of secure, multi-server, and multi-client systems, including build, configuration, testing, deployment, sustainment, and upgrade. This role offers the opportunity for growth by combining technical depth with real-world impact.

What You Will Do

  • Provide technical support and sustainment for deployed systems, ensuring reliability and adherence to company processes, procedures, and quality standards, including AS9100 accreditation support.
  • Assist in the build phase of complex systems, overseeing hardware assembly, software installation, and system configuration.
  • Plan and execute testing on newly built and upgraded systems, including Integration Testing, Factory Acceptance Testing, and System Acceptance Testing.
  • Provide office-based technical support to customers via phone and email, with occasional out-of-hours support by prior arrangement.
  • Travel within the UK and overseas to deliver, commission, upgrade, diagnose, and resolve issues on systems originally built in Malvern.
  • Work with a broad technology stack, including Microsoft products, Linux distributions, Active Directory, certificates, networking, storage solutions, and virtualization.
  • Maintain locally held replicas of customer systems for troubleshooting, upgrade testing, and issue resolution.
  • Demonstrate software and systems to internal and external customers, contributing to continuous improvement and lean activities.

What You Will Learn

  • Gain deep, practical experience across a wide range of technologies, including Microsoft and Linux platforms, networking, storage, virtualization, Active Directory, and certificate management.
  • Understand how complex, secure, multi-server systems are built, tested, deployed, and sustained throughout their lifecycle.
  • Exposure to UK and international customer environments, observing how systems are used operationally and supported effectively.
  • Develop skills in system testing, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis on live and replicated customer systems.
  • Enhance communication and stakeholder management skills through regular interaction with internal teams and external customers.

Qualifications and Skills You Must Have

  • A degree in a relevant IT field, coupled with work experience (such as a placement year) in a technical IT background.
  • Curiosity, with the ability to learn and contribute fresh ideas to the business.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to build effective relationships with colleagues, customers, and technical teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel within the UK and overseas and occasionally provide out-of-hours support with prior notice.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain the relevant UK security clearance required for the role, SC at a minimum.

Qualifications We Would Prefer

  • A full UK driving license.

What We Offer

In return, we offer a benefits package, including a competitive salary, 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, an Employee Assistance Programme, options to buy and sell holidays, employee discounts, a fantastic pension scheme, discounted gym membership, and much more.

We provide exceptional career opportunities to exceptional individuals. Many of our Technical Support & Sustainment Engineers have transitioned into different business departments such as Engineering, Programme Management, and Business Development.

Why Join Us?

This role offers variety, visibility, and purpose. In any given week, you may work in the Malvern lab, support a customer site, test an upgrade, or assist in resolving a complex technical issue.

You will join a team at the forefront of system sustainment, where technical quality, reliability, and customer trust are essential.
