About The Post

This post is open to internal colleagues and recent University of Westminster graduates only.

This post is full time and permanent, working 35 hours per week.

The Creative and Advanced Technologies Lab (CAT LAB) is the University of Westminster's campus-wide home for creative technology, serving every school from 2,000 m2 of studios, labs, and workshops on the Marylebone Road. We are recruiting a recent graduate of the University to join our team of technologists.

You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team of academics, researchers and technologists, in a Lab that spans the full spectrum of creative and advanced technology: digital and analogue fabrication, including CNC machining, robotics, 3D printing and laser cutting; digital modelling, simulation and capture; virtual and augmented reality; a new Virtual Production Studio; and our new flagship Immersive Experience Lab. The CAT LAB offers diverse, cutting-edge facilities dedicated to teaching, research and innovation, and an excellent working environment.

You will need to be a graduate in a design, creative-technology or related discipline, with strong skills in analogue and/or digital fabrication or creative computing, and experience of working with a range of materials, processes and software-driven equipment. You will help maintain and develop the Lab and its equipment; instruct and train students and colleagues in the safe and correct use of the facilities; and support Lab Users in developing their work. Your role will include supporting the Lab's research and enterprise projects and installing exhibitions and events. You will be encouraged to develop new skills and to help expand and innovate the processes we offer.

Candidates must have a can-do attitude, good interpersonal skills, and a creative approach to innovative and experimental work. You will be required to work flexible hours at key times.
