Job Description
As a Graduate Trainee Accountant at the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), you’ll join a team delivering high-quality financial services while supporting road safety across Britain. You’ll rotate through Financial Control, Financial Accounting, Management Accounting and Business Partnering, gaining broad experience in core accounting areas. Full support is provided to achieve a professional qualification with ACCA or CIMA, including funded training, exams, study leave and mentoring, with strong progression opportunities on qualification.
Responsibilities
- Deliver excellent, customer-focused financial services through placements in different finance teams.
- Support the development and implementation of financial policies and processes.
- Complete assignments as required as a part of this role.
- Ensure the accuracy, validity, and quality of financial information.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, customers, and stakeholders, ensuring due process is followed.
- Promote best practice, recommend process improvements, and support automation and simplification initiatives.
- Provide ad hoc assistance across the finance function, maximising learning and development opportunities.
Person Specification
To be successful in this role you will need to have the following experience:
- Setting and achieving goals (in education, work, or other interests)
- Self-learning and self-development.
- Demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Using IT tools to resolve problems (e.g. Excel)
Qualifications
We welcome applications from graduates with a 2:1 degree in any discipline, or a 2:2 with additional qualifications such as a master’s degree, as well as students in their final year who are on track to achieve these results.
Behaviours
We'll assess you against these behaviours during the selection process:
- Delivering at Pace
- Making Effective Decisions
Working at DVSA
This role is suitable for hybrid working, and therefore a combination of workplace and home-based working can be accommodated subject to business requirements. Hybrid working is a non-contractual arrangement where employees have the flexibility to work remotely combined with a minimum of 60% of their working time a month at either their principal workplace or, when required for business reasons, to carry out separate duties at alternative working locations or DVSA sites. There may be occasions where you are required to attend above the minimum expectation.
Please note that we do not hold a UK Visa & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker Licence sponsor and are unable to sponsor any individuals for Skilled Worker Sponsorship. Candidates must ensure they have the appropriate rights to work in the UK before application.
