Graduate Trainee Electrical Project Manager
About the role
Elite M&E is looking for a Graduate Electrical Project Manager to join our team delivering electrical installations across commercial, healthcare, education, government, data centre and mission-critical projects in London. This is a structured, 2–3 year development role for a recent electrical engineering graduate who wants to build a career in project management rather than pure design or site engineering.
You'll rotate through design coordination, site delivery and commercial/procurement over your first year, working alongside a senior Project Manager as your mentor, before progressing toward running smaller projects independently. We'll fund your professional development along the way, including IET membership, progression toward Incorporated/Chartered Engineer status, the APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ), and site safety training (SMSTS, CSCS).
What you'll be doing
In natural language rather than a checklist: you'll support the delivery of electrical installation packages from design stage through to handover, working with site teams, subcontractors and clients; you'll help track programme, cost and quality on live projects; you'll attend design and progress meetings and start taking ownership of smaller work packages as you gain experience; and you'll build the commercial and site-management skills needed to run your own projects.
What we're looking for
A BEng or MEng in Electrical Engineering (or a closely related discipline), a genuine interest in building services and project delivery rather than pure design work, strong communication skills, and a proactive, organised approach. No prior industry experience is required — this role is designed to build that from the ground up.
What's on offer
-
Starting salary of £30,000–£35,000, with a review at 12 months tied to agreed progression milestones (typically stepping up toward £34,000–£40,000 as you move into an Assistant Project Manager role)
-
Discretionary annual bonus
-
Pension scheme
-
Professional membership fees paid (IET)
-
Fully funded qualifications: APM PMQ, SMSTS, CSCS, and support toward chartership
-
A named senior mentor and a structured rotation through design, site and commercial functions
-
Phone and laptop provided
-
Travel expenses paid from office to site
