About the Role
We’re looking for an enthusiastic, audience-focused writer with a passion for using copy to tell stories and translate technical information into effective, optimised and engaging content. Working with colleagues from across the University, you’ll develop high-quality, engaging webpages in line with the University’s brand guidelines and strategic goals. Day-to-day, you’ll write, edit and proofread new and existing content for the BSU website, ensuring it’s clear, concise and optimised for search engines. You’ll then evaluate and improve its performance using analytics data.
(This is an 18 Month Full Time Fixed Term Role)
About You
You’ll be a clear, concise communicator with excellent attention to detail. You’ll have the confidence to communicate with staff at all levels of seniority, and present your ideas to them when required. Organised, adaptable and creative, you’ll be able to manage your time effectively and prioritise incoming requests alongside longer-term, strategic project work. You’ll be eager to get to grips with unfamiliar tools and software. Ideally, you’ll be familiar with Adobe Creative Cloud. You’ll be a team player with both the ability to work on your own initiative and as a part of a team.
- Fluency in written communication – must have excellent writing and proofreading skills
- Willingness to learn how to use new technology
- Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with people at all levels
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Experience of editing a website
- Experience of editing or images or graphics for the web
- Willingness to receive and action feedback
