Quantity Surveying at GRAHAM Construction is a highly varied role, offering exposure to all divisions of the business, including Building, Civil Engineering, and Interior Fit-Out.

Job Description:

What does a Quantity Surveyor do at GRAHAM?

A Quantity Surveyor ensures that the financial position of construction projects is accurately reported and controlled effectively. They manage the contractual relationships between the various parties involved in any particular project.

A Quantity Surveyor Shall:

  • Check and process sub-contract payments for work completed
  • Ensure that Subcontractors are not charging for work that wasn’t completed
  • Produce schedules of materials needed to complete a project so that these can be bought from sub-contractors
  • Prepare and manage the accounts for projects
  • Produce regular reports on cost & value
  • Produce spend profiles and regular forecasts for projects
  • Identify and manage risk and opportunities
  • Take off drawings and site measurements
  • Liaise with those onsite to obtain site records and reconciling these against works claimed
  • Agree changes with Client’s commercial team
  • Deal with all legal contracts and their clauses for a project

This job description is intended to give the post holder an appreciation of the role envisaged for the Quantity Surveyor and the range of duties to be undertaken. It does not attempt to detail every activity. Specific tasks and objectives will be agreed with the post holder at regular intervals.

Requirements:

Technical Competencies

Essential Criteria:

  • Studying Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management to degree level at university or technical college
  • Demonstrate an understanding of construction management practices
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills
  • Full Driving Licence
  • Right to Work in the UK

Desirable Criteria:

  • Health & Safety Induction Including Management System CSR/SAFEPASS/CSCS Card
  • Previous site experience

The Recruitment Process:

Our industrial placements can last from 3-12 months, dependent on your college/university curriculum. On your placement, you will be given the support, guidance, and experience which will lay the foundations for a great future in a Construction career.
