Job Description
The Trainee Site Engineer shall:
- Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to
- Undertake Surveying and setting out duties
- Check drawings and quantities
- Assist in scheduling of materials
- Plan the work and efficiently organise site operations to meet an agreed programme of deadlines
- Liaise with any consultants and sub-contracts engaged in the project as necessary
- Ensure quality records necessary to meet quality requirements are maintained
- Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise
- Arrange testing of materials
- Undertake the testing and calibration of instruments used
- Keep a Site Diary
- Fully interact with other members of the construction site team
- Liaise with other function/departmental managers
- Introduce improvements and innovation where appropriate to areas of responsibility
- Other duties as required by the Site Manager to facilitate construction of the works
This job description is intended to give the post holder an appreciation of the role envisaged for the Trainee Site Engineers and the range of duties to be undertaken. It does not attempt to detail every activity. Specific tasks and objectives will be agreed with the post holder at regular intervals.

Essential
- Currently studying, or planning to study, a higher or degree-level apprenticeship programme in a construction engineering/management or relevant discipline
- Demonstrate an understanding of construction management practices
- Demonstrate strong communication skills
- Commutable distance to Berkshire
- Full UK Driving License
- Strong IT Skills
Desirable
- An appreciation of Health & Safety practices
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Previous work experience specifically in Construction industry
- Able to demonstrate problem-solving

Graham Routes To Becoming a Site Engineer:
Technical Apprenticeships
Technical Apprenticeships are available at a number of entry points from GCSE, A Level, or BTEC awards. We are currently seeking to recruit individuals hoping to transition onto a Higher-Level or Degree Level Apprenticeship, which are offered from Level 4 to Level 7.
A Higher Apprenticeship provides a structured pathway to develop your skills while earning a nationally recognised qualification. You’ll gain valuable hands-on experience in the workplace alongside dedicated study time, with all training costs fully funded. These programmes offer a clear route to professional body membership and can lead to rewarding careers.
