Immigration Caseworker
We are a specialist immigration law firm seeking to hire a law graduate with a view to offering good career progression.
To undertake matters which you are deemed competent to conduct having due regard to your training and experience with the intention of providing a high-quality service at all times:

Attending upon new prospective clients, obtaining matter details, and arranging appointments in order to secure their instructions as well as assisting with other marketing activities;

Attending upon current and former clients and dealing with their queries including:
-
Advising on course(s) of action, length, and cost of case (as appropriate);
-
Assessment of client’s financial means and explanation of our Private fee-paying terms and conditions;
-
Obtaining instructions and processing their applications, appeals or other matters;
-
Obtaining and reviewing evidence and statements;
-
Submitting applications to the Home Office, Tribunals and Courts, and all associated activities;
-
Attending upon clients at Tribunals, Courts, and detention centres if necessary;
-
Drafting and/or dictating correspondence to clients, Tribunals, Courts, solicitors, counsel, and other third-parties, including Witness Statements, Notices, Applications, and other Legal Forms/Documents;
-
Instructing counsel, solicitor advocates, experts, or other third-parties, reviewing documents and continued liaison as required;
-
Arranging hearings and conferences;
-
Negotiation on clients behalf and, liaison with opponents etc. to obtain most preferable outcome for clients;

Ensuring efficient day-to-day progress of all matters, prioritising work as necessary and keeping the client informed on progress;
-
Filing documents to client files, dealing with closed files, and maintaining the firm’s closed file records;

Compliance with all of the firm's policies and procedures;

To ensure that all work carried out meets or exceeds the requirements of the LAA’s Standard Contract, the SRA Code of Conduct and meets Quality Mark standards as may be specified;

To record all work carried out accurately and appropriately on the firm’s computerised time recording system and/or case management system;
-
Any other duties as necessary to meet the changing needs, practice areas and service standards of the Firm’s business.
Person Specification

To be considered, candidates must have achieved at least a 2.1 degree. The role will be hands on, managing your own mixed caseload.

The successful candidate will need to be a good team player, possessing the ability to get on with and take instructions from more experienced team members.

Strong client facing skills and a hard working attitude are also essential.

No prior immigration casework experience is required

Training and supervision will be provided
-
Career progression to qualification as a solicitor will be offered subject to satisfactory performance
