We operate a 12-month (Summer 2027 – Summer 2028) student placement program within the Vehicle Performance group. This is an exciting opportunity where you will work with highly skilled and experienced engineering professionals and graduates who you can learn and develop with - the more questions you ask the more you will gain from your experience. It is important to know that many of our industrial placements have been successful in obtaining graduate roles on completion of their degree.
Qualifications and Skills Required
To be eligible for an industrial placement within our Formula E Vehicle Performance team you should be working towards a STEM degree including but not limited to Mathematics, Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive, Computer Science, Data Science, Physics, or Motorsport Engineering. An understanding of vehicle dynamics, control systems (including optimal control), mathematical modelling, and programming (MATLAB, Python, JavaScript, C#, C, C++) would be advantageous.
What You Will Do
During the placement, you will take on responsibilities such as:
- Analysis of car, rig, simulator & model data to unlock performance potential in current & future cars.
- The analysis of race data whilst working with the strategists to maximize our decision-making and find the optimal strategies for the races.
- Being part of the Ops Room (mission control) where you will be supporting the race team at the track.
- Developing software tools and models in order to make processes and analysis more automatic.
- Contributing towards our pre-event and post-event analyses of car, tyre, systems, & strategy performance.
Overall, you will contribute to making our car faster, more reliable, and more efficient.
