Industrial Placement - Mechanical Engineering
KYOCERA AVX Components Limited in Coleraine specialises in the manufacture of ceramic capacitors for the automotive and space sectors. We have been operating in Northern Ireland for over 45 years and our reputation is built on the quality of our product and service. Our customer base demands high standards in product reliability and development, and we are continually developing our product and process to meet the challenges of the market.
We currently have a one-year placement opportunity within our Electronics engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain a wealth of knowledge of electronic systems within an industrial environment. This is a fast-moving environment - all about learning quickly, taking a hands-on approach, and most importantly giving you the opportunity to grow and develop your own skills. This placement is very practical in nature and you will learn about the uses of machine control systems, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Personal Computer control systems, and machine programming in various languages. You will also work with building management controls for Clean Room environments.
Industrial Placement - Electronic Engineering
During the placement your duties will include:
- Assisting the Electronic Engineering department to provide support in advanced machine fault finding.
- Assisting in the design, modification, and improvement of automated Production/high-tech equipment.
- Helping to design or upgrade older machinery.
- Assisting with the planning/modification of health and safety procedures.
- Liaising with outside contractors.
Qualifications / Experience
Essential Criteria
- Currently undertaking an electronics/mechatronics engineering-related degree.
- Entering your third or penultimate year of study, returning to your degree course at the end of the placement.
Desirable Criteria
- Knowledge of PLC/PC controls.
Competencies
You should have a hands-on approach to engineering and a methodical approach to fault finding. You must be able to demonstrate that you are proactive, flexible, and improvement-focused and that you work well in a team environment. Good communication skills and interpersonal skills are a must.
