Overview
Join our 2026/27 engineering placement cohort and gain hands-on experience across multiple disciplines before focusing on testing. This 10-month industrial placement runs from August 2026 to June 2027 and is based at our Multimatic Technical Centre Europe in Thetford, Norfolk, United Kingdom.
Company Overview
Multimatic is a global automotive supply company providing hardware and engineering services to OEMs worldwide. MTCE is a leading supplier of engineering and vehicle development services to major automotive OEMs and niche vehicle manufacturers. Specialties include suspension systems, vehicle dynamics, carbon fibre structural components, and mechanisms. Our separate Electronics Systems division builds the ECUs that drive these products.
Position Overview
As a placement student, you will complete a rotational programme across Testing, Analysis, Design, Production, and Quality before joining the Test Department. This placement suits students with a practical, hands-on skill set who enjoy a dynamic environment.
- Contribute to the execution of development testing and DVP&R programmes.
- Work in a fast-paced environment requiring high attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver OEM, motorsport, and niche vehicle design solutions.
The duration of the placement is 10 months.
Key Requirements
- CAD literate.
- Strong ability to prove out design ideas using engineering tools.
- Ability to perform engineering calculations using MS Office and in-house tools.
- Excellent report writing, results interpretation, and presentation skills.
- Awareness of vehicle suspension and hydraulics.
- Passion for the automotive or motorsport industries.
- Driven to achieve world-class results in a high-tempo environment.
- Flexibility to work on a variety of tasks as required.
- Ability to work to all relevant company guidelines and procedures.
- Experience with Siemens NX or CATIA is advantageous but not essential.

Candidate Profile
Ideally on track for a high-level BEng or MEng in Mechanical, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline. Candidates should demonstrate passion and drive to become world-class engineers.
