Job Overview

Gain hands-on experience over a 12-month placement using Cadence’s industry-leading IC design tools on real-world engineering challenges. As an Intern, you will work on technical design and verification problems across a broad range of disciplines, including:

  • Analog design
  • Digital design
  • Design verification
  • Integrated Circuits (IC)
  • Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design

Eligibility & Placement Requirements

  • This role is open only to students currently enrolled in a university degree programme.
  • The 12-month placement must form an assessed or accredited part of the student’s degree (e.g. industrial/professional placement or year-in-industry).
  • Students should be studying a relevant discipline, such as Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • The placement is based on-site in Cambridge, United Kingdom, for the full duration.
  • Applicants must have the legal right to work in the United Kingdom for the full duration of the placement.
  • Where applicable, applicants must hold a valid visa covering the entire 12-month placement period, with no restrictions that would prevent full-time employment.

Responsibilities

  • You will become an active member of a professional engineering team, contributing to live projects within your assigned business unit.
  • Engage in direct interaction with customers, gaining insight into real customer challenges and requirements.
  • Build strong technical knowledge in electronic design automation (EDA) through practical application of Cadence’s cutting-edge tools.
  • Take part in structured technical training courses to support continuous learning and development
  • Experience a fully immersive engineering placement, providing exposure to day-to-day work in the semiconductor industry
  • Learn about the latest technologies, methodologies, and industry challenges through:
    • Collaboration with experienced engineers
    • Customer engagement
    • Seminars, projects, and technical discussions
  • Develop deep expertise in Cadence tools, workflows, and design methodologies
